Why consider Prosperity Mansion and Farm"? 1) Price- we are typically 40% less expensive than most wedding venues of the same stature 2) We offer THREE wedding packages to make us affordable 3) No Day of Coordinator required- MOST wedding venues now make it MANDATORY that you must hire a "Day of Coordinator or Wedding Planner". This comes at a significant additional cost of $1,200 to $3.000. Make sure that you add that into the quote for the cost of the wedding venue. 4) Select your own vendors- We do have a preferred vendors list but absolutely allow outside vendors as long as they meet our simple requirements. 5) BYOB- We have two local liquor stores that will deliver anything that you want in coolers iced up and ready to go on your wedding day. They will return after last call and refund you for anything that was unopened. Or you may bring your own. 6) A deposit will secure your date 7) Payment plans are available with zero % interest. 8) No hidden costs- We do charge a nominal fee for the ceremony if you are getting married here. However, make sure you ask the wedding venue if there are any extra fees that are no covered in the initial quote. I have heard from couples that once they met with a venue for a tour and leaned about all the things that cost extra that they could no longer afford them. Visitors can stay in our historic 17th Century Waterfront Manor House, which offers 5-star B&B accommodations and is surrounded by our 65-acre family farm. Our stately Tobacco Barn, vineyard, cut flower farm, rolling acres of lavender, and apiary, all built in the 1930s, will leave you in wonder of what we have to offer. 2005-2007 Buchanan Hall was determined to be in need of repair in 1942 after an inspection of the building's structure. It was decided to form a new trustee committee, which included Mrs. Paul Mellon as Chairman, Lieut. Walter J. Williams as Vice Chairman, Rozier Dulany as secretary, and Mrs. Joseph G. Gibson as treasurer, with Mrs. Paul Mellon serving as Chairman. Mrs. William G. Fletcher and Mrs. Thomas Glascock were also on the committee, which met once a month. The renovation of the building proceeded as planned, with funds raised through private contributions solicited by the committee's members. Upon completion, an item titled "Upperville's Latest Community Project is Brought to a Close" ran in the Fauquier Times-Democrat on November 5, 1942, with the headline "Upperville's Latest Community Project is Brought to a Close." According to the report, "the building will be available for use by churches, humanitarian organizations, the Red Cross, and the Boy Scouts at no cost." For dances and private gatherings, there will be a little cost levied. Additionally, in the event that Washington is evacuated, the hall will be required for hospital or canteen operations."
