Comis Estate
Black Stallion Estate Winery
Twelve years after arriving in America, in 1924, Gaspare Indelicato planted a vineyard in Manteca, California. With it, he planted the foundation of his eventual success in the California wine trade. Since that first vineyard flourished, Gaspare’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have honored his legacy through dedication to his steadfast values of family, hard work and integrity. More than a century ago, Gaspare and Caterina Indelicato immigrated from Sicily to the United States. With little to draw on but a long family history of grapegrowing and an entreprenuer’s gift for seizing opportunity, Gaspare entered the wine trade by planting a single vineyard in Manteca, California, where the climate reminded the couple of their homeland. Occupying a privileged position at the southern foot of the trail, the winery grounds eventually became the site of the Silverado Western Center, a major equestrian center that opened in September 1963. The original riding area now houses prized wines, instead of prize-winning horses. However Black Stallion Estate Winery carries its heritage forward. The estate’s legacy honors the world-class terroir of Napa Valley, the pioneering spirit of the Silverado Trail, and the Indelicato family’s warm hospitality and generations of wine expertise. To make great wine, a winemaker must have a deep familiarity with each lot of freshly pressed juice. At Black Stallion, the search for greatness means boots in the vineyard, checking on vine growth and grape development all year long. It means tasting grapes rather than looking at lab reports to determine the perfect moment to pick. It means harvesting and sorting fruit by hand. Black Stallion Winery’s small scale means that each lot of grapes that arrives at harvest is treated individually, and receives a unique upbringing to bring out its full potential for excellence. Once crushed at the winery, micro-lots are either fermented in small tanks made of wood, concrete or steel. These choices of aging vessel give winemaker Ralf Holdenried exceptional flexibility to match a batch of grapes with the material best suited to bring out its greatness—key in a region as diverse as Napa Valley. After fermentation, the wine is drained using gravity, not pumps, and aged in the finest oak barrels. The gentle handling of the wine prevents the extraction of harsh components that could impart bitterness. There’s no set recipe for a Black Stallion blend, just the finely honed palates of winemaker Ralf Holdenried and his team. It’s not uncommon for Holdenried to try dozens of trial blends before deciding on a final cuvée. The goal is always the same: To create a seamless, harmonious wine that captures the varietal’s best expression of that vintage in Napa Valley.
Darioush
The story of Darioush began centuries ago, in the seat of winemaking culture. It culminates here and now - a new intersection of winecraft, extraordinary arts, time-honored customs grounded in an authentic tradition of graciousness. Darioush is a story of the harmonious blending of traditions - a culture of graciousness and thoughtfulness and one rooted in the ideals of individualism and opportunity. Nowhere is the connection between wine and culture more evident than in the history of Persia. Discoveries dating to 5,000 B.C. in the Zagros Mountains of Northern Iran show that winemaking emerged as permanent communities replaced nomadic life and a new age of wine culture began. The history of wine accompanies the very concept of hospitality, inspiring art, poetry, culture, and winecraft for millennia to come. Darioush Khaledi was instilled at an early age with the winemaking craft of his father, inspired by wine culture in the literary city of Shiraz - in modern day Iran - and the ancient city of Persepolis. He became a lifelong collector, seeking out old-world wines infused with tradition and energized by modern technique. Aspiring to the ideals of the American dream, Darioush immigrated to America to seek out opportunities others overlooked. He was an entrepreneur determined to realize his dream, yet always eager to share his journey through his love of wine borne of rich heritage. In 1997, he and his wife Shahpar founded Darioush and began to realize a lifelong aspiration to share the art, architecture, wine, craftsmanship, and culture that inspired their journey. In the late 1990's Darioush and winemaker Steve Devitt made an unorthodox choice, to commit to Southern Napa Valley - choosing its cooler microclimates to develop their unique style. While the focus was in the north, he was headed south. Seeking opportunities others overlooked, Darioush and Steve focused intently on site selection and cooler microclimates in Southern Napa Valley; high atop Mount Veeder and the maritime-influenced Valley floor. Replanting where necessary to unlock the full potential of both the vineyard and wine grape cultivated from it. They committed to a Bordeaux-style of winemaking - a blended style they long admired for the potential to truly express a wine's character. Now these years later, the Darioush estate comprises 120 acres in Southern Napa Valley spanning the Mount Veeder and Oak Knoll AVA's. They believe truly unique wines reflect great vineyards, but also the character of the people behind them. This spirit finds its home in a vineyard estate, an environment of warmth and hospitality.
Luna Vineyards
When Luna's founders first laid eyes on the Luna property in 1995, they instantly recognized the magic and the amazing potential of its estate vineyard, perfectly located along the Silverado Trail. They bought the property and followed their dream, building a winery that paid tribute to the varietals that set Napa Valley apart. The original founders brought tradition engrained by Italian ancestors, to embrace local processes that would sustain a deep and abiding respect for the Napa region. Luna was the first family-owned winery to plant the visionary Italian varietal of Pinot Grigio on the estate vineyard, on the eastern hillside of the Silverado Trail. From the farming methods that sustain the rich and bio-diverse ecosystem of the Estate Vineyard to the dense rocky subsoil of the Game Farm Vineyard, Luna believes that the most important part of winemaking happens in the vineyard. Our winemaking team maintains a deep and abiding respect for the land, tilling the soil as little as possible, and restricting the use of chemicals and fertilizers. Hand picking and multiple sorting techniques are complemented by our proven practices of native yeast fermentation and extended maceration, which combine to yield exceptional results. Beyond the core varietals for which Luna is known, they continue to expand their portfolio of award-winning wines, made truly great by their exceptional vineyard sites, natural fermentation methods, and a minimum of intervention in the cellar. Luna is proud to continue their founding values, giving science and creativity equal respect. 2020 celebrates Luna’s 25th anniversary when in 1995, the winery was born at the foot of the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. The Luna team set out to produce cherished Italian varietals like Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese. It comes as a surprise to many that Sangiovese is the grape used for the well-known Chianti, made in the Tuscany region of Italy. With the wave of Italian immigrants in the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century, producing Sangiovese in Sonoma and Napa Valley was common. As Cabernet became king, it soon replaced the Sangiovese varietal in the valley. Twenty-five years later, esteemed winemaker Shawna Miller leads the winery with unique Sangiovese sourced from some of the best vineyard sites in Napa Valley, including Game Farm Vineyard in Oakville. In these shallow, rocky soils, the stressed vines produce superior quality Sangiovese.

Hannah Nicole Vineyards and Winery
Hannah Nicole is a place where farming and winemaking are intertwined. In our opinion, quality wine begins with high-quality grapes grown in a well-managed vineyard. Our winemaking is focused on retaining that quality throughout the winemaking process while also producing wines that are real and fascinating for both wine specialists and newbies to the world of wine. Sustainable farming practices are used on our 54-acre vineyard, with a significant emphasis placed on minimizing environmental effect and increasing biodiversity. KG Vineyard Management and John Derr Vineyard Consulting provide guidance on all aspects of vineyard management for us. We like to work by hand, and we prefer to work slowly and meticulously in order to avoid any significant mechanical influence on the vines. It is important to handle irrigation carefully, and many blocks are dry farmed in order to slow maturity and increase concentration. Our vineyard is planted with all red Bordeaux varietals, as well as Grenache and Mourvedre for some Rhone Spirit and some new world Petite Sirah. We also have a little amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. The white varietals grown on the land include our world-renowned Sauvignon Blanc as well as Viognier. Hannah Nicole Vineyards is the ideal location to host your next private or business event or gathering. In order to accommodate both large and small parties, we provide a wide choice of friendly and pleasant venues. Intimate family gatherings, business meetings, graduation celebrations, baby showers, team outings, bride showers, and high school reunions can all be held at Hannah Nicole Vineyards and Winery, which is available year-round and in a variety of settings.

Del Dotto
Located in the beautiful Napa Valley, Del Dotto Family Wineries & Caves focus on small production, premium wines. Dave Del Dotto has spent the past 25 years acquiring vineyards in some of the best American Viticultural Areas including Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, Howell Mountain, and Fort Ross-Seaview Sonoma Coast. Currently, the family produces cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, sangiovese and sauvignon blanc from the Napa Valley vineyards, as well as pinot noir, chardonnay and limited amounts of syrah, sauvignon blanc, sparkling grenache and mourvedre from the Cinghiale Vineyard in the King Ridge region of the Sonoma Coast. With a family name rooted in winemaking since the 1400s, wine was in Dave’s veins. He started collecting bottles in the late ‘80s. In 1988, he was on a wine-buying trip in Napa Valley with his wife Yolanda when they stumbled upon a beautiful 1912 Frank Lloyd Wright craftsman house located in the desirable Rutherford appellation. Dave had a palate for fine wines and a love for real estate, and he knew the Rutherford property had the potential to produce some remarkable grapes. He and Yolanda purchased the 17-acre property on the spot after falling in love with the view. Shortly after, the family moved from Kona, Hawaii, and in 1990, continued the 800-year old Del Dotto legacy by planting new rootstock of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and sangiovese. Dave and Yolanda, along with their two children, Desiree and Giovanni, live and work in Napa Valley, overseeing the operations of their three wineries: Historic Del Dotto, Del Dotto Estate and Piazza Del Dotto. The family’s impact is noticeable across all aspects of the business—from the vineyards to the tasting rooms and caves—the wine, the food pairings, the architecture, ambiance and décor are all influenced by the family’s desire to offer every guest the best winery experience in Napa Valley. While the wines are their masterpiece, a great wine tasting must have world-class food that brings the wine to life. The executive chef Joshua Schwartz, formerly of The French Laundry, Per Se, Bouchon and Bouley, has also been with the family for more than a decade and his inspired cuisine has highlighted how to marry the art of wine and food. From house-cured salumi and slow-braised meats to vegetables from the garden and Grandma Dee’s handmade ravioli, Chef Joshua collaborates on a unique menu that embodies the season and pairs perfectly and highlights the amazing wines.
Churchill Manor
Edward Churchill and his wife, Mary, moved to Napa from Rochester, N.Y., in 1878, when he became the cashier of the James H. Goodman Bank (later sold to the Bank of Italy), which in 1930 became the Bank of America. He and Mary built the Churchill Manor in 1889 on Brown Street (then named Grant Street), considered to be the original street of the Napa founders. Neighboring mansions included one owned by George Goodman of the Goodman Library on First Street, and the Manasse Mansion, built by an executive of the Sawyer Tannery. At nearly 10,000 square feet, Churchill Manor was reputedly the largest home in the Napa Valley at the time. After finishing it, Churchill built what is now known as Cedar Gables, which he presented to his son as a wedding gift in 1891. Times were good for these early aristocrats. The Napa River was an active steamship route, and San Franciscans would sail up the Napa River to attend large parties at the Churchill Manor. Churchill also owned the Golden Ribbon Beer Company and the Tokalon Vineyard near Rutherford. He died suddenly in 1903, when, in a flu-induced delirious state, he mistakenly drank from a bottle of carbolic acid. His wife and daughter continued to live at the Manor and later his granddaughter, Dorothy, lived there. It is rumored that the family suffered financially during the Depression and Prohibition. In any case, Dorothy began to take on boarders. Most of these were teachers, who by all accounts lived a rather “Bohemian” lifestyle. She began to rent the beautiful mansion out for large weddings. The residence left the Churchill family in 1956. The next several tenants included the Napa State hospital, a commune and a group of male college students who earned rent by hosting weddings there. The Mansion, however, was falling apart, and plans were made to tear it down for apartments. Horrified preservationists went to work to save it, and the Churchill Manor became the first Napa residence to be placed on the National Registry. A Hawaiian couple bought the Mansion in the 1980s, intending to refurbish it for use as a bed and breakfast inn. By that point, the neighborhood had fallen from its former glory and was considered to be a bad part of town. The project was more than the couple could handle and they threw in the towel in 1987. About this time, Brian Jensen, an engineer and contractor from Montana, had been living and working on the Peninsula. He had done some remodeling work for Joanna Guidotti, then a vice president and tax attorney with Bank of America, and the two had started dating. Although he liked many things about the Bay Area, Jensen was homesick for the kind of community spirit he’d known in Montana. He loaded his pickup truck and drove from city to city looking for it. He found it in Napa and invited Guidotti to join him here. The two were having breakfast one morning when Guidotti saw the ad for the Mansion in the Register. They drove by to check it out, made an offer on it, and moved in on New Year’s Eve in 1987. Although the museum quality redwood interiors fortunately had not been damaged, the place was in bad shape. Part of the floor on the second story bowed over six inches. It rained inside the sunroom as much as it did outside. The two set to work and within a month had their first room ready for rent, which they offered for $75 a night. By spring the following year, weddings were again being held on the grounds. A few years later, Jensen tried his hand in the kitchen, hoping to reduce some of the catering costs. Today, couples book there in part because of his skills as a chef, and guests report that they use his recipes, such as Flambeed Amaretto Shrimp, in kitchens all over the country. Thanks to their hard work, the home has been restored and is one of the most beautiful architectural treasures in Napa. Every room is a work of art. By their count, Jensen and Guidotti have hosted 1,000 weddings that 100,000 people from all over the world have attended, and Guidotti has coordinated all of them. They credit their staff, most of whom have been there for over 10 years, with much of their success. Over the years, Churchill Manor has been recognized in virtually every “best of” lodging guidebook in the country. Everything they do in and to the house has to hold up to a litmus test of being functional, pristine and preserving antiquity. Although both are intense about their work, they are warm, caring and easy conversationalists: the perfect hosts for a bed and breakfast.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, notably known for being the winery that won the Cabernet Sauvignon competition in the famous 1976 Judgment of Paris, was founded in 1970, and is considered a Napa Valley first-growth estate. In 1969, The founder of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars first tasted with Nathan Fay, whose scenic vineyard below the rocky promontory of the Stags Leap Palisades, so named because of the legend of the stag who successfully eluded hunters by leaping to freedom across the district's landmark peaks, was the first planting of Cabernet Sauvignon in what later became the Stags Leap District. In 1970, The founder purchased the 44 acre property, which was primarily a prune orchard, next to Nathan Fay's vineyard, named the property Stag's Leap Vineyards, and replanted it to Cabernet Sauvignon and a little bit of Merlot. Stag's Leap Wine Cellars was born. In 1972, The first vintage of S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon is produced. In 1973, The first winery building is completed, and the now historic 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon becomes the first wine made in the new red wine facility. In 1974, The first vintage of CASK 23 is produced after consulting winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff, while tasting through the lots of wine from this vintage, decided that one lot, which was in the large wooden cask numbered 23, was so beautiful and deliciously distinct that it should be bottled separately. In 1976, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars won the Cabernet Sauvignon category in a blind tasting staged by Steven Spurrier, an English wine merchant in Paris, among French wine experts between American and French wines. This later became known as the famous Judgment of Paris. In 1986, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars purchased FAY vineyard from Nathan Fay. In 1989, The Stags Leap District in Napa Valley was established as an American Viticultural Area. In 1990, The first bottling of FAY Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was produced from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. In 1996, A bottle of the history-making 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon was placed in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s national Museum of American History. Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars begins the excavation of its wine caves. In 2000, The Napa wine caves were completed with an entrance called The Arcade, designed by Barcelona-based architect Javier Barba. There are over 34,000 square feet of tunnels, and one of only about 50 Foucault pendulums in the world, which suspended from the ceiling, marks the passing of time and the aging of wine. In 2001, The first vintage of ARTEMIS Cabernet Sauvignon, named for the Greek Goddess of the Hunt, was produced. In 2007, A partnership between Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Marchesi Antinori proudly accepted the stewardship of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and its legacy. In 2013, The iconic 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon was named one of the Smithsonian's "Objects that Made America". In 2014, Designed by Barcelona-based architect Javier Barba, the must-see FAY Outlook & Visitors Center opens, allowing visiting guests to take in beautiful panoramic views of FAY Vineyard while experiencing the top-notch Stag's Leap Wine Cellars hospitality.

Robert Sinskey Vineyards
RSV is a second-generation, family-owned and operated vineyard and winery guided by the principle that the craft of winegrowing begins with the care of the soil. Every vine for every wine was planted by RSV with every vineyard certified* organic. One could say that RSV is beyond organic. Since 1991, RSV has been practicing the “whole farm” philosophy of interrelationships based on Rudolph Steiner’s 1928 lecture “Agriculture.” This approach addresses the damage done by modern, mechanized farming to heal an ailing earth, tapping into the rhythms of nature, encouraging natural processes to grow balanced wine grapes that require little more than attentiveness to craft into expressive, vibrant and living wines. RSV approaches the cellar with purist sensibilities. Winemaker Jeff Virnig provides the knowledge of nearly 35 years in the RSV cellar and vineyards, crafting wines that are true to variety and place. RSV to maintains a house style of elegance, balance and finesse. RSV does not submit wine for review by score-centric critics, because to taste wine in a competitive atmosphere, without food on the table, rewards muscular wines that shout while ignoring well-crafted wines of subtlety and grace that compliment the table… attributes that define the fine wines of RSV. Fine wine needs to evolve from a distinct point of view – a self-imposed discipline to navigate the siren song of temptation. Otherwise, you may wake up one day to find yourself fabricating a wine to placate a critic or fill a market segment, and discover your craft has devolved into just another recipe for soulless wine. Find out why RSV was named Sunset magazine’s tasting room of the year and the Wine Spectator featured it as a must visit winery in Napa Valley. But don’t take their word for it, come see it for yourself. Great wine is about good food and good people. You will find all that and more at RSV. RSV is dedicated to the agrarian, culinary experience. Sheep graze the vineyards and provide wool, pelts and meat. Edible landscape, extensive culinary gardens and fruit orchards cover the winery grounds and vineyards. Beehives dot the backside of RSV’s Capa Vineyard where they pollinate the orchards and provide honey. RSV has even planted an experimental truffle orchard with English Oaks and Filberts… because elegant, balanced wines should be served with produce and meats from the gardens and/or artisan purveyors and prepared in RSV’s Vineyard Kitchen.
