  Benbrook Stables is one of North Texas' best horse boarding facilities. We exclusively provide high-quality grains and hays to our animals. Whole oats, barley, corn, and oil make up our grain. It has a protein content of 9%, a fat content of 6%, and a fiber content of 6%. There are no by-products or processed by-products in this product. Our hay comes from irrigated farms in Texas and is of the highest quality. Individual stalls with shavings, various secure meadows for daily turnout, a 110 x 330 lighting arena, a smaller lighted riding arena, two round pens, and over 30 miles of gorgeous trails surround Lake Benbrook are just a few of our amenities. The US Army Corps of Engineers maintains the riding trails, which are recognized as horse trails. On the paths, no motorized vehicles are permitted. Playdays, barrel races, group trail rides, campouts, movie nights, volleyball competitions, softball, and cookouts are just a few of the events we organize for our boarders throughout the year.   From Galveston to Houston In 1870 a group of Masons gathered frequently for lunch at the Knickerbocker Cottage on Sixth Avenue in New York City. At a special table on the second floor, a particularly fun-loving group of men met regularly. Among the regulars were Walter M. Fleming, M.D. and William J. “Billy” Florence, an actor. The group frequently talked about starting a new fraternity for Masons – one centered on fun and fellowship, more than ritual. Fleming and Florence took this idea seriously enough to do something about it. ​ Billy Florence had been on tour in France and had been invited to a party given by an Arabian diplomat. The exotic style, flavors, and music of the Arabian-themed party inspired him to suggest this as a theme for the new fraternity. Walter Fleming, a devoted fraternity brother, built on Fleming’s ideas and used his knowledge of fraternal ritual to transform the Arabian theme into the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.). ​ With the help of the Knickerbocker Cottage regulars, Fleming drafted the ritual, designed the emblem and costumes, formulated a salutation and declared that members would wear the red fez. The first meeting of Mecca Shriners, the first temple (chapter) established in the United States, was held September 26, 1872. As word got out about the fledgling organization, membership grew rapidly, spreading across the U.S. In the early 1900s, membership spread into Canada, Mexico, and Panama. Today, Shriners International is a fraternity with nearly 200 temples in several countries, thousands of clubs around the world and hundreds of thousands of members dedicated to the principles of brotherly love, relief and truth.

  Designed by architect Charles Page and built in 1934 by workers of the Civil Works Administration, the Zilker Clubhouse is a one-story limestone structure set on the highest point within Zilker Metropolitan Park, a National Register Historic District overlooking downtown Austin and Lady Bird Lake. The building and its surrounding 30 acres were originally used by the Boy Scouts for meetings and activities, and the clubhouse retains ornamental ironwork, including door handles, hinges, and lanterns, original to its construction. The site hosts weddings, private parties, meetings, and corporate or non-profit group retreats for up to 100 guests. Its 1,296-square-foot interior opens onto a 1,980-square-foot rock patio and concrete terrace, where the sweeping skyline view serves as a backdrop for small gatherings. Two wood-burning fireplaces warm the interior, and without central air conditioning, the elevated, breezy terrace helps keep guests comfortable on warm Austin nights. A ramp connects the building and terrace to the on-site parking area.

  Established in 1859 by William and Mary Menger on Alamo Plaza, the Menger Hotel is the oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975. The hotel began as a two-story, fifty-room property built to house guests of Menger's adjoining brewery, and grew through a series of additions, including the 1881 acquisition by Major J.H. Kampmann, who added new wings and the hotel's famed cherry-wood bar, modeled after the taproom of London's House of Lords Club. That bar, now known as the Menger Bar, is where Theodore Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders, and it remains a centerpiece of the hotel's Victorian-era lobby, filled with museum-quality artifacts and Renaissance-revival detailing from a 1909 renovation. Just off the lobby, the Spanish courtyard garden offers palm trees, blooming azaleas, and a three-tiered fountain, alongside a heated pool described as the largest in San Antonio. For weddings and private events, the hotel's Grand Ballroom and Minuet Room anchor a set of eleven event spaces, from the crystal-chandeliered Grand Ballroom with its adjacent poolside terrace to the Minuet Room's Victorian fireplace, dance floor, and French doors opening onto the courtyard.
