Lionfish, a hotspot in San Diego, is planned to open in the fall of 2020 on the beach town's bustling Atlantic Avenue. In an appealing, casual atmosphere, Lionfish serves fresh-catch meals, grass-fed meats, and local, seasonal ingredients. Lionfish, which has been recognized twice as a James Beard Foundation Smart Catch Leader, brings a sea-to-table approach to dishes, letting the freshness of the fish shine through the simplistic, yet perfectly seasoned cuisine. Serving its namesake Lionfish, a species that is devastating the ocean, particularly the Caribbean, by devouring fellow marine life and harming coral reefs, Lionfish is doing its lot to help save the ocean's environment. The rare, delicious white flaky fish will be served in a multitude of ways, including whole fried and as the centerpiece of a citrus-infused ceviche. Every Lionfish removed from the ocean helps preserve future generations of other fish. Light, fresh appetizers and a selection of small, shareable plates round out the menu. The Lionfish restaurant takes a socially aware approach to farm-to-table cooking, relying largely on farm fresh vegetables and grains to create delicious dishes.
