  Pauley Ballroom

  Host your event in the Pauley Ballroom, which is highly sought after. The ballroom, the East Bay's second largest venue, features prestigious oak paneling, a 30 foot high ceiling, and a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows with spectacular views of Sather Gate and the Campanile. For smaller gatherings or breakout seminars, the Pauley Ballroom can be divided into two halves. East Pauley makes up 1/3 of the ballroom, while West Pauley makes up 2/3. Please note that in order to meet personnel, catering, and/or logistical demands, a reservation request for Pauley Ballroom must be made at least 30 days in advance. If you are hosting or preparing a Major Event, please see the Campus's Non-Departmental User Procedures for requesting access to campus facilities. A planning consultation with an Event Coordinator is included in your rental. The meeting should be held 60 days before to the event. Please bring accurate times, set-up requirements, and catering requirements. During this meeting, three room designs depicting the layout of your event are created. Each additional diagram costs $77. 3 business days prior to your event, room diagrams are finalized. Kerr Lobby can be included in your Pauley Ballroom rental at no additional cost. The lobby, with its wood paneling, is ideal for registration and handout tables.

  Etude

  Etude was founded on the philosophy that winemaking begins in the vineyard long before the harvest and that superior grape growing diminishes the need for intervention by the winemaker, resulting in wine that is grown, not made. This remains their approach today as they continue to build the Etude legacy. Etude was established 1982, when founding winemaker Tony Soter set his sights on the cool-climate Carneros region in the pursuit of producing world-class Pinot Noir. As a winemaker, Tony always had a fascination with Pinot Noir. He was quoted as saying "Pinot Noir is the most appropriate vehicle with which to study wine growing, precisely because of its demanding nature but also because of its delicacy and transparency. Make no mistake it is a humbling pursuit, but when it’s right, Pinot Noir is a glorious and moving thing. It is in the pursuit of that experience that we all work.” In 2000, Grace Benoist Ranch was developed – the culmination of an eighteen-year journey in finding the most suitable terroir for their Estate vineyards. On the ranch are seven Chardonnay clones, nine Heirloom Pinot Noir clones, and eight additional Pinot clones, all divided into 24 individual vineyard blocks, each with its own soil type, rootstock, grape variety and clonal type. These individual vineyard blocks average only 8 acres in size. The spacing is dense to ensure low per vine yields of fully concentrated fruit. Pinot Noir offers intricate flavor profiles, many of which are unique to its growing region. Beyond Carneros, Etude sources fruit from the Central Coast region of California, Oregon, and even New Zealand. This diversity offers their guests the opportunity to see the world though the lens of Pinot Noir. The flavors, aromas, and textures are a direct impact of the teroirs on which the grapes are grown. At Etude, they believe wines are expressive of the place in which they are grown.   Venue Bella Giornata is an indoor and outdoor event and wedding venue set on six acres in Byron Center, Michigan, just south of Grand Rapids. Opened in 2024 and backed by more than 50 years of family hospitality experience, the venue was built to host a wide range of celebrations — from intimate gatherings to weddings of up to 275 guests. Two primary event spaces anchor the property. The Grand Ivory Room features expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, a soaring lofted ceiling, and wood beam accents, accommodating up to 275 guests for receptions, ceremonies, and seated dinners. The adjacent Magnolia Room offers a more intimate setting for up to 90 guests, with custom tile accents, modern metal shelving, and large glass windows that bring in natural light. Outdoors, towering magnolia trees, a tricolored beech tree, a lush lawn, a covered patio, and a fire pit create a naturally beautiful setting for ceremonies and cocktail hours. On-site amenities include dedicated preparation suites, on-site bar service with curated beverage packages, catering partnerships with four local caterers, and a dedicated venue coordinator included with every booking.
