Established in 1958 and serving the region since 1960, the American Camp Association-accredited center is available for rental to businesses, families, and community groups for gatherings such as annual meetings, trainings, family reunions, and weddings, alongside team-building workshops, outdoor leadership programming, and strategic planning retreats. The Martha Washington Inn & Spa is a historic hotel in downtown Abingdon, Virginia, built in 1832 as the private residence of General Francis Preston and his family. The original brick residence still forms the central structure of the hotel, and the Preston family's living room is now its main lobby. From 1858 to 1932 the building operated as Martha Washington College, a women's college known locally as "The Martha," before reopening as a hotel in 1935. The property sits across from the Barter Theatre, the longest-running professional resident theatre in America. Today the Martha Washington Inn & Spa offers 63 guest rooms decorated with antiques and modern amenities, along with a spa and fitness center. Its ballroom provides a setting for weddings and special events, with indoor and outdoor options and all food and beverage catered in-house by the hotel's team. The hotel also hosts meetings and conferences, with flexible meeting space, high-speed internet, A/V and surround-sound capability, and on-site accommodations for multi-day corporate stays. Guests can also spend time at the property's pool, tennis and pickleball courts, and mini golf course, or bike the nearby Virginia Creeper Trail.
