Green Island Country Club sits along the wooded shores of Lake Oliver in Columbus, Georgia, where pine forests meet the water created by a Chattahoochee River hydroelectric project in the late 1950s. The club opened in 1962 as the centerpiece of the Green Island Hills residential community. In 1995, a full redesign by Cole & Hornsby transformed the clubhouse into a structure modeled on 17th- and 18th-century English Country Houses, with a gated approach, motor court, and wings extending from a central building.
