The Josephine Butler Parks Center is a mansion in Washington, DC, built in the Renaissance revival style. This structure previously housed the Hungarian and Brazilian embassies, however it has subsequently been repurposed into an Earth Embassy. Parks & People has funded the project, which is registered as a Nonprofit Center for Shared Space. The group Parks & People was founded over 20 years ago by community and park leaders, as well as organizations. They are now proponents of environmental causes. Nina May is the creation of Co-Owners Colin McClimans and Danilo Simic, who are also the Executive Chef and General Manager, respectively. McClimans and Simic, who had previously collaborated on projects, set out to create a true neighborhood restaurant in their hometown. Nina May, named after their daughters' names, is a New American restaurant in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC, that opened in 2012. Local and seasonal ingredients are used in this family-style restaurant, which sources its ingredients from farms within 150 miles of the city. McClimans, who is dedicated to supporting local small businesses and preserving the farms and fisheries of the community, uses only the freshest, most flavorful ingredients from the region to create his distinctive cuisine. The menu is constantly changing as a result of the use of only seasonally available ingredients.
