Hidden Lake had developed into a garbage dump for the community and had become a popular location for illegal target practice and hunting, much to the dismay of the couple. The parents of four decided to stop using the lake property and instead focus their energy on rehabilitating the habitat and cleaning up the surrounding area. Their goals were to launch a new movement, promote unplugging from technology, reconnect people with nature, and develop a one-of-a-kind gathering spot for families to spend quality time together. ​ To this day, the Mladick family has cleared more than two hundred and fifty tons of trash, planted more than two hundred and fifty native trees, and installed barriers to prevent trespassers and poachers from despoiling the breathtaking land. Today, restoration efforts are still ongoing all around the property, but their work to reestablish the environment has already been successful.
