  The Houdini Estate®, built in the Edwardian manner in the early 1900s, still contains its caverns, underground passages, terraced gardens, and a deep-water tank where he performed his illusions. According to legend, Harry Houdini trained his underwater escapes. The remote home served as the ideal refuge for America's first action hero, Captain America. For the last few years of his life, Houdini utilized the estate's pool to rehearse his incredible feats of escape and deception. He died in the pool in 1926. The property where Houdini's wife, Bess, hosted a memorable party for 500 magicians and lived for ten years after her husband's death still carries the enchantment and mystery of "The Handcuff King."   The food at Nari, a modern Thai restaurant, is inspired by the cuisine of Thailand's past yet prepared with an eye toward the present. The term "woman" in Thai has its origins in Sanskrit, which is where our name, "Nari," comes from. A personal love letter to the women in her life who taught her how to cook and, more importantly, how to eat, Nari is our chef and owner Pim's tribute to generations of Thai women who laid the foundation for Thai cuisine. The venue centers on the Party Barn, a structure dating to 1910, featuring concrete and brick flooring, a grand wood-burning fireplace, dimmable overhead lights, and built-in heaters. Alongside the barn, a nondenominational Chapel accommodates up to 200 guests for ceremonies, with an outdoor lawn available as an open-air ceremony alternative. Owned and operated by Kristi and Dan Steadman, the ranch takes its name from the family's cattle brand — a heart with the letter "S" — a symbol that carries the same meaning for the events hosted there as it does for the cattle that roam the property.   Mitchell's Mountain Meadow

  The National Forest entirely encircles the 80 acres of our property. Our three sizable meadows offer expansive views of the mountains nearby, and the property has lovely streams meandering through them. We are situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains' Tahoe National Forest. Independence Lake is only two miles away, Truckee/Donner Lake is 30 minutes away, and Lake Tahoe is 45 minutes away. We have a late-June to mid-September season. Our three-day wedding package gives you plenty of time to plan and set the stage for one of the most significant days of your lives. Our fee covers three days of use of our 80-acre property. This means that you have the entire day on Friday and the early hours of Saturday to prepare for your very own special and customized wedding. The major event will then be ready on Saturday afternoon and evening. Sunday is your entire day to unwind and take out any personal belongings. The cabin is the ideal location for the bridal party to get ready for your extraordinarily special day. There are numerous ceremony locations available (on a meadow, a lawn with a beautiful view, or next to a mountain stream surrounded by aspen trees).
