Our family has been taming the untamed regions of Texas for for 200 years in Houston and the neighboring areas. We excelled in the local cattle markets during the peak of the cowboy era in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and places like Sealy and Willis were named after our pioneering family. The mansion in Galveston was built by our great-great-grandmother (now known as the Moody mansion). Then her daughter, our great grandmother, traveled to Montgomery to marry the man she loved, Stump Martin, a cowboy. They erected “The Big House,” a gorgeous estate with a Grand Hall to welcome guests and dignitaries from all around the world. Many things have changed in the last century, but our roots in Montgomery, Texas, remain strong. We designed the Grand Hall to celebrate our proud Texas heritage by evoking the grandeur of a bygone era. Over 20 vintage chandeliers, reclaimed shiplap, ornamental tin, and a stone fireplace evoke old world elegance while while bringing a touch of current Texas spirit to the space.

Mama La is the secret ingredient in each of our Kim Son Restaurants, and she can be found in every location. Kim Su Tran La was born in Vietnam, and she, her husband, and their seven children fled to Houston in 1980, fleeing the communist regime that had taken over their country at the time. Mother-in-law Mama La was able to memorize more than 250 recipes before opening the first KIM SON Restaurant, thanks to her extensive knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine, which she received from her in-laws. In a short period of time, her food amassed a large following of thousands of followers, as well as the admiration and loyalty of many of Vietnam's top restaurant cities. The first KIM SON store was located in Vinh Long, but it was eventually closed as a result of the communist takeover of the country in 1975. KIM SON has been recognized by a number of prestigious publications, including Bon Appétit, Esquire, and Food & Wine, and has been named "Best Vietnamese Restaurant" in Houston on an annual basis by the Houston Press. Currently, Mama La's culinary skills have allowed her restaurant group to expand to include four full-service restaurants, three banquet facilities, and four food court outlets throughout the greater Houston region. When you visit one of our restaurants, we hope that we will meet – or exceed – your expectations. We would like to express our gratitude to you for visiting our KIM SON Restaurants and for your continued patronage. The warmth, tradition, and culinary treasures of Vietnam and our people are our hopes for your time at one of our KIM SON restaurant locations. We look forward to seeing you soon! Over the course of more than 30 years, we have developed a repertoire of dishes that are uniquely representative of our homeland, and we consider it a privilege to be able to share them with you. We take pride in using only the freshest ingredients available, and we are constantly striving to improve the overall quality of our food and service. Please feel free to share your thoughts on our restaurant with us, and we would appreciate any suggestions for improvements. As always, our goal is to provide you and your family with an exceptional and authentic Asian dining experience. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future!
