Our Balcony Dining Area may be rented for parties of up to 40 people, and we provide a full-service menu. This room is placed on the second floor and has three walls encircling it, with the fourth wall uncovered to provide a view of the main dining room below. A floor-to-ceiling curtain separates the open wall idea from the rest of the room, creating a more contained and personal environment for your visitors. This space is illuminated by a spectacular wall of tall windows, which, when combined with an independent volume control sound system and an accessible flat screen television, creates an inviting and delightful ambience. There is a meal and beverage minimum requirement. Vegetarian and vegan choices are available for all events, upon request, from our Executive Chef. Any dietary limitations that exist among the group members should be communicated to the Event Manager in advance. If you prefer to hold a private event at St. Cecilia, the church can be closed to the public for your convenience. The complete dining room, bar, and balcony spaces will be purchased as part of the sale of the restaurant. Catering services for up to 150 people in cocktail hour, passing or stationed hors d'oeuvres options, and seated lunch or dinner are available, as well as a reception-style event catering service for up to 250 guests. For buyout events, there is a food and beverage minimum that is determined by the day of the week and the time of day the event takes place. Vegetarian and vegan choices are available for all events, upon request, from our Executive Chef. While you're enjoying beer, wine, and handcrafted cocktails, The Optimist will transport you to your favorite seaside haunts with dishes such as hickory-roasted fish and raw oysters, as well as beach-food favorites like as hush puppies and lobster rolls. Our light-filled, semi-private dining space is ideal for hosting business events such as receptions, showers, and celebrations, as well as birthday parties and other social gatherings. We are able to close The Optimist to the general public for you if you are hosting a wedding or other fully private event. Cooks & Soldiers draws its inspiration from the people and the cuisine of the Basque Country in Spain and France. The Spanish call it Pais Vasco; the Basque say Euskal Herria. Regardless of nomenclature, it stands for thousands of years of fierce independence, cultural autonomy, and unrivaled cuisine. Pintxos are the Basque answer to tapas. From the word for “thorn,” a Pintxo is traditionally served on bread, pierced with a toothpick. Pintxo Bars represent the casual, convivial aspect of Basque dining, where guests order for the table over a glass of Txakoli (crisp, slightly bubbly Basque wine) or tart Basque cider. Pintxo Bars are loud, vibrant and celebrate the joy of companionship and conversation over the formality of coursed dining. Cooks & Soldiers seeks to recreate this environment with our Pintxos Tradicionales, served on toast, and our Pintxos Especiales, composed expressions from our chefs. The Asador, on the other hand, is a wood-fired grill, elevating the simple yet divine combination of olive oil, salt, pepper, and smoke. At Cooks & Soldiers, our Asador is the centerpiece of our kitchen where whole meats and seafood are grilled over hot coals. These larger asador dishes are designed to be enjoyed communally, accompanied by a variety of fire roasted vegetable offerings.
