The Vander Ende-Onderdonk House (circa 1709) is the city's oldest Dutch fieldstone house and is the oldest of its kind in the United States. Flushing Town Hall is an 1862 landmark in the heart of Flushing, Queens, managed by the Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts on behalf of the City of New York. Following a nine-year, $8 million restoration completed in 1999, the building was transformed from an abandoned structure into a thriving arts center and event venue. It holds Smithsonian Affiliate status and membership in New York City's Cultural Institutions Group. Three distinct rental spaces serve a wide range of private events: a theater accommodating up to 190 guests for galas, receptions, and performances; a 1,500-square-foot gallery suited for intimate gatherings of up to 100; and a 2,000-square-foot outdoor garden with tree-shaded lawns for up to 150 guests. Originally built for the 1964 World's Fair, Terrace on the Park stands as a New York City landmark in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens. The venue accommodates groups of 50 to 900 guests across its varied spaces: the glass-walled Penthouse perched at the top of the building, the open-air Rooftop Garden suspended 20 stories above the park, multiple ballrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a collection of suites, pavilions, and landscaped gardens. A private chapel and a rooftop wedding pergola provide dedicated ceremony settings. All suds are delivered at a properly calibrated 34 degrees, every time, thanks to an on-site flux capacitor that calibrates nitrogen and carbon dioxide and regulates compression of each particular beer to the Brew Masters requirements. A complete bar is also available, with seasonal wines-by-the-glass options. Alder Manor is a 72-room Renaissance Revival mansion in Yonkers, New York, designed in 1912 by the architecture firm Carrère and Hastings for mining magnate William Boyce Thompson. Named for Thompson's Montana hometown of Alder Gulch, the estate sits on more than six acres of classically inspired gardens filled with authentic Roman artifacts imported from Italy in the early twentieth century. The interior is defined by a succession of original architectural features: marble floors, walnut and oak paneling, a rare English-style trompe-l'oeil ceiling, a 15th-century Italian stone fireplace, an actual 16th-century Italian church façade incorporated into the structure, a three-story staircase, and an indoor tiled pool topped by a stained glass window. Many of the 72 rooms retain original Renaissance paintings and historic artifacts. The grounds command views of the Hudson River and the Palisades. Alder Manor is available for film, photo, and commercial shoots, with convenings, retreats, private events, and weddings anticipated in 2026.
