It’s our vision of Northern California as if it is a region in Italy, our connection to the region and our love for Italian culinary practices. The rustic, market-driven menu features handmade pasta, pizzas, antipasti, housemade salumi, meat and fish plus dishes from the Jewish-Roman heritage known as “Cucina Ebraica.” The restaurant itself inhabits a building with over 100 years of history in San Francisco and was originally built as a stable after the great fire in 1906 and before our takeover of the space, an auto body shop. Standing beneath marble columns, ornately gilded balconies and an elaborate frescoed ceiling, it’s easy to imagine this building’s allure when it first came on the scene as a flashy French restaurant and San Francisco’s grandest nightclub. Opening in 1907 on the heels of the great earth- quake, the 5,000-square- foot concert hall symbolized the city’s renewed optimism. The popular club flourished for a quarter century in this incarnation, then became the Music Box, where Sally Rand performed her famous fan dances. In 1972 it was reborn as the Great American Music Hall. For more than 25 years the hall has showcased the talents of music and comedy greats such as Prince, Ray Charles, Jay Leno, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams. Its intimate setting and wonderful acoustics continue to make it a favorite of music lovers throughout the Bay Area. In addition to countless concerts, the Hall has hosted corporate bashes, fundraisers, holiday parties, product launches and weddings.

From a small library to a huge ballroom, our eight event venues provide a variety of inviting environments. The elegant exterior of the Club was created by renowned architects Walter Bliss and William Faville, who were inspired by the Renaissance's Italianate style to create an attractive, ageless structure. The Clubhouse's beauty and warm ambience are suitable for the Club's various member functions. The University Club of San Francisco was established with the goal of providing a gathering place for alumni from various colleges. The Clubhouse's first location was rented at 722 Sutter Street. It was eventually regarded too tiny to accommodate the rising membership, despite its elegance. In the historic earthquake of 1906, the Club's original location at 722 Sutter was demolished, and the majority of the building was devoured by fire. 800 Powell, once the Stanford Mansion's stables, was chosen as the location for the new Clubhouse. The Club's new edifice was designed by renowned architects Walter Bliss and William Faville.

Located at 608 Commercial Street, this historic venue is just steps away from the Transamerica Pyramid, North Beach, and China Town. The building marks the site of the first U.S. branch mint in the West. Montgomery Street, one-half block away, marks the original waterline of Yerba Buena Cove. Visitors can peer into the underground brick vault where gold was stored. The vault survived the 1906 earthquake and fire. Venue 412 is a 12,422 sq ft, two-level event venue at 412 Broadway in San Francisco's North Beach, on the edge of the Financial District. The rental includes a full A/V package (PA, professional lighting, video to eleven HD displays, wireless mics, Pioneer DJ booth), in-house catering through our commercial kitchen, two private dressing rooms, four unisex rest rooms, and an artist green room.
