The mansion, its surrounding grounds, and Marion Koogler McNay's personal art collection became the founding gift for Texas's first museum of modern art, which opened to the public in 1954. In 2008, French architect Jean-Paul Viguier added the Jane and Arthur Stieren Center for Exhibitions, a 45,000-square-foot expansion housing additional galleries, a sculpture garden, a lecture hall, and classrooms. Today the museum holds more than 22,000 works spanning medieval and Renaissance art through contemporary pieces. 200 W Jones Ave, San Antonio, TX 78215, USA
    • Spaces for 500 Guests

Housed in the former Lone Star Brewery on the San Antonio River, the San Antonio Museum of Art occupies a complex built between 1895 and 1904, its twin towers and crenellated parapets still marking the site on Jones Avenue. The brewery closed during Prohibition and later served as a cotton mill, ice factory, and auto repair shop before falling into disrepair; museum director Jack McGregor rediscovered the building in 1971, and philanthropist Nancy Brown Negley helped lead the effort to convert it. Following a $7.2 million renovation by Cambridge Seven Associates, the museum opened to the public in 1981. Today the museum spans more than twelve acres and holds nearly 30,000 works of art representing six continents and more than 5,000 years of human creativity. The museum evaluates a limited number of private event rentals each year, offering planners a singular downtown location, historic buildings and grounds, proximity to the San Antonio River, and access to its art collection for weddings, corporate functions, and other gatherings.

Established in 1859 by William and Mary Menger on Alamo Plaza, the Menger Hotel is the oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975. The hotel began as a two-story, fifty-room property built to house guests of Menger's adjoining brewery, and grew through a series of additions, including the 1881 acquisition by Major J.H. Kampmann, who added new wings and the hotel's famed cherry-wood bar, modeled after the taproom of London's House of Lords Club. That bar, now known as the Menger Bar, is where Theodore Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders, and it remains a centerpiece of the hotel's Victorian-era lobby, filled with museum-quality artifacts and Renaissance-revival detailing from a 1909 renovation. Just off the lobby, the Spanish courtyard garden offers palm trees, blooming azaleas, and a three-tiered fountain, alongside a heated pool described as the largest in San Antonio. For weddings and private events, the hotel's Grand Ballroom and Minuet Room anchor a set of eleven event spaces, from the crystal-chandeliered Grand Ballroom with its adjacent poolside terrace to the Minuet Room's Victorian fireplace, dance floor, and French doors opening onto the courtyard.
