The New Orleans Board Of Trade was founded in 1880, and trading continued on the floor until mid-1960. Centered on the eastern wall of the building are three clocks, which have been in place since the building was erected, giving the times in New Orleans, New York & Rio de Janeiro, which were the major players in the Green Coffee Trading. The eight-sectioned mural done was hand-painted by local artist Alvin Sharpe in 1932. It took him approximately three months to complete. First, the canvas was glued to the dome, and then he painted them while on a scaffold in the prone position -- the local version of Michelangelo. (The cost for this project was only $5,500.00 -- just imagine what it would cost today!) In 1993, the Board of Trade was once again renovated, the floors leveled and carpeted with a movable dance floor. It is now available for special event rental, so the public has the opportunity to experience the grandeur of days gone by. The space can currently accomodate up to 500 guests reception style and 250 seated.

Your wonderful visit to New Orleans’ historic and beautiful French Quarter would not be complete without a stop at Jackson Square, which is where you will find the Cabildo. This elegant Spanish colonial building neighbors St. Louis Cathedral and houses many rare artifacts of America’s history. In commemoration of the city’s 300th anniversary, the Louisiana State Museum debuted a new exhibition, We Love You, New Orleans!, celebrating people, places, and things that are quintessentially New Orleans including Sidney Bechet’s saxophone, a Mardi Gras Indian suit, memorabilia from Pontchartrain Beach, and a K&B sign, among other things. Using a variety of artifacts, images and documents, the exhibition From "Dirty Shirts" to Buccaneers: The Battle of New Orleans in American Culture opens with an exploration of the battle’s history, emphasizing the diversity of its participants, and closes with an investigation of how the battle has been remembered, commemorated and represented. Come visit the Cabildo, the site of the Louisiana Purchase transfer ceremonies in 1803 and one of Louisiana’s most significant historical buildings. From landmark court cases to visits from international ambassadors, many important events in Louisiana have taken place within the Cabildo. The Presbytère
Louisiana State Museum, 751 Chartres St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA- Spaces for 50-500 Guests
- 1 Museum
- 1 Landmark
The Presbytère’s two permanent exhibits tell two sides of the ongoing Louisiana story—one of celebration and one of resilience. Mardi Gras: It’s Carnival Time in Louisiana offers a window into the annual celebration and riotous rituals of Mardi Gras, a festival that is inextricably woven into Louisiana’s way of life and whose roots extend deep into the Middle Ages. There are parade floats to climb, costumes to see and historical throws on display as well as rare glimpses into the secretive social club society from which modern-day Mardi Gras krewes evolved. And it’s not a party without music: Mardi Gras albums, records, sheet music and more are also part of the collection. The Living with Hurricanes: Katrina and Beyond exhibit tells of rescue, rebuilding and renewal. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans’ badly engineered levee system, it resulted in one of the worst disasters in American history, leaving 80 percent of the city flooded and hundreds dead. The exhibit documents the event, the aftermath and southeast Louisiana’s ongoing recovery. With interactive exhibits and artifacts that showcase the spirit of the city’s residents, this is a collection you don’t want to miss.

The best method to obtain the farmhouse cheeses we are wild about is to identify the people who love creating them as much as we do about selling them. We found this out a long time ago and have been using it ever since. We've established an international network of cheese makers and affineurs who supply us with the artisan and farmhouse cheeses that are not available in other shops in the United States. What to Expect When You Arrive We operate on the premise that cheese should be enjoyable, and we strive to make each and every visit to our shop unique and memorable. There are areas for the cheese novice, the rind smelling expert, and the curd curious to explore. These are the folks who work for us. St James cheesemongers and guests are urged to sample every cheese available on a daily basis in order to guarantee that each cheese is served at its best.

Etoile Polaire
1433 N Rampart St, New Orleans, LA 70116, USADuring the late 1800s and early 1900s, this Masonic hall was used for a variety of social events including dances, some of which featured ragtime and jazz musicians. The lodge was a prominent white Creole association that was established at this location in 1794. Among its members was W.C.C. Claiborne, who served as Louisiana's first governor. The first floor was used for public gatherings, while the second floor was reserved for private lodge functions. Rituals were performed in French until the 1950s, when the language was switched to English. The building is an impressive example of the Greek Revival style; it has three bays and two stories and was built around the year 1840. Both the building and the cast iron gate along Rampart Street, which was constructed in the 1880s, are decorated with Masonic symbols. Today, guests continue to stay at the lodge. If the exterior space is used, the property can accommodate as many as 300 people.
