Located in the heart of downtown La Grange, our diners can expect urban flavors and décor matched with a beautiful rooftop dining space. fourteensixteen General Manager Chris Johnson and Executive Chef Bret Bohning lead up the scratch-made menu sourcing a majority of the ingredients within 300 miles of the restaurant. “We’ve created an incredible culinary experience through our menu with emphasis on locality.” Chef Bret Bohning remarks. The beverage menu offers handmade and well thought out cocktail elements beyond the traditional offerings using multi-dimensional flavor, textural contrasts and compliments. Leading up the infusion creations, Bar Manager, Jim McGuigan explained, “Our intention is to offer the highest quality of recognizable and seasonally tuned beverages with an edge of uniqueness pointed at locality, where possible, sustainability, and responsibility with regard to sourcing and production.” The restaurant is set in a 130-year-old building featuring a 100-seat dining room, bar area and an impressive 60-seat dining and lounge rooftop terrace. A semi-private area, on the restaurant’s second level, is available for intimate special events for up to 18 guests along with various semi-private spaces with space for up to 140 people. The décor is industrial yet tasteful from the rustic mosaic mirrors to the antique water gage light fixtures and contemporary garage doors for when the La Grange weather is just right. In the Spring, fourteensixteen will be building a pergola for the Rooftop in order to “cover” private events and extend the outdoor season. Andy Burns, Emmett's creator and founder, first became interested in the craft beer market while attending Marquette University. Andy worked as a carpenter's assistant in the heart of Milwaukee (Brew City) during the summers. He and his boss, Jim, would unload their work truck and crack open one of Jim's home brews after a long day's labor. Andy was smitten. He studied up and began brewing his own beer at home after visiting a local home brew business. Andy joined the Marine Corps after college and flew reconnaissance drones while his homebrew gear gathered dust. Andy saw the rise of craft beer while training on the west coast. He drank it down, amazed at the variety of beers and breweries along the coast. Craft beer was nearly non-existent back in Chicago, he realized. Andy spoke with craft brewery owners, sat in the front row at brewing seminars, and believed in his mission: to pioneer craft beer in the Chicagoland area. Andy and his team of brewers now produce world-class beer in Chicago's backyard. Locals brew for locals, neighbors help neighbors, and beer and food lovers meet just down the block to celebrate good times. The Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall occupies a 2007-renovated historic building at 31 South Ellsworth Street in Naperville, Illinois — a former church that North Central College transformed into an intimate performing arts venue. The theatre's thrust stage configuration seats 229 guests across the main floor and balcony, creating an up-close atmosphere well suited to musical productions, plays, speaker events, panel discussions, and private ceremonies. The space is air-conditioned and fully accessible, and comes equipped with a data projector and video screen, a green room, dressing rooms, and a lobby that can serve as a reception area before or after events. The building is named in honor of Judy G. Meiley Swallow Stevenson, an entrepreneur, North Central College life trustee, and generous benefactor to the college. The Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall hosts North Central College's theatre department productions as well as community artists and groups, and is available for rental through North Central College Conference Services.
