In the heart of Los Angeles’ Downtown Arts District, kodō offers more than a restaurant or hotel—it is a sanctuary for food, design, and connection. Housed in the historic Engine Company 17 firehouse, the century-old building has been reimagined by architect Matthew Royce with Gry Space, blending modern elegance with historic charm. The name “kodō,” meaning heartbeat in Japanese, reflects vitality, rhythm, and cultural fusion. Every element—raw steel, boulders, gravel, and ash wood—creates a serene backdrop where guests can reset, recharge, and celebrate. Distinct Spaces for Every Occasion kodō is home to five unique dining and gathering spaces, each with its own energy. Outdoor Patio The sunlit patio features booth seating surrounded by natural light, perfect for cocktails, dinners, or daytime events. Its relaxed ambiance invites guests to enjoy the outdoors in an urban oasis. Lobby Café Minimalist seating, earthy plaster hues, and tatami benches create a tranquil escape inside the lobby café. Opening onto Santa Fe Avenue through restored firehouse doors, it blends the street’s vibrancy with a Kyoto-inspired calm, ideal for casual gatherings or coffee meetings. Private Dining Room This moody, rustic space centers around a 16-foot live-edge pine table with benches that seat up to 20. A greenhouse-like setting, it doubles as a gallery for art or ceramics, making it a flexible space for intimate dinners, collaborations, and curated experiences. Firepit A dark, cozy retreat with exposed concrete walls and vaulted ceilings, the firepit is ideal for smaller celebrations, birthdays, or photoshoots. In cooler months, heaters extend the warmth, creating a space that feels both intimate and atmospheric. Indoor Dining Room With textured gray and brick walls and booth seating, the indoor dining room balances casual comfort with sophistication. It is a versatile setting for events, business dinners, or productions, serving as the core stage for kodō’s culinary journey.

Our event space is 5000sqft that is connected to a 500sqft Green Room and an overlooking 1500sqft Mezzanine area, perfect for hosting VIP's. This highly versatile space comes equipped with state-of-the-art AV/Lighting managed by Visual Elements. LOT 613 is a special event and film location comprised of two vintage warehouses and an adjoining courtyard encompassing 18,000 total square feet. LOT 613 holds a full liquor license, live entertainment, cabaret and dancehall permits as well as a full catering license. LOT 613 sits within a very unique hub of the Downtown LA Arts District, surrounded by well known landmark buildings such as the Biscuit Company and Toy Factory Lofts, restaurants like Bestia, Church & State and Urth Caffé, and local bars including Tony’s, Villains Tavern, Everson Royce and Little Bear. LOT 613 is the home of the PROTOTYPE series. PROTOTYPE brings together some of the city’s foremost promoters presenting upfront house and techno artists, receiving both critical and audience acclaim, and has emerged as a signature series for underground dance music in LA. *per event basis and capacity is given by LAFD once plans are submitted.

In summer 2021, Girl & the Goat went west for sunny skies and new culinary adventures. Millwick has remade itself as a one-of-a-kind stand-alone super-loft open to live concerts, private events, outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions, exhibitions, and productions. It was originally built as a livery and subsequently utilized as a cold-storage warehouse. It has a 7,000-square-foot floor plan (4,500-square-foot interior + 2,500-square-foot garden courtyard) that seamlessly blends interior and exterior spaces. Millwick is a fantastic event and wedding location that can accommodate up to 175 guests for live performances, ceremonies, and receptions. Millwick is conveniently located in the center of the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles, close to many of the city's top new and old hotels, restaurants, and nightlife. Millwick's calm urban sanctuary, a courtyard encircled by mature trees, drought tolerant planting, 20ft brick walls, and lush vertical gardens, is revealed through a discreet, modest garden entry that leads guests down a winding exposed aggregate path. Two enormous glass roll-up doors connect this outside garden to the grand hall. The courtyard is illuminated by energy-efficient lights and the stars of Los Angeles at night. Millwick's Grand Hall runs adjacent to its Garden Courtyard and is reached by two colossal glass rollup doors. Parts of the inside floors have been removed and replaced with unique specimens, creating an urban jungle feel. Soaring wooden bowstring truss ceilings frame nine huge skylights that hover 20 feet aloft. The exposed brick walls' 80-year-old patina has been kept, and it complements Tony Brown's series of wholly unique, hand-made gold ceramic tile walls. Millwick boasts a 25-foot digital cinema screen, as well as a hidden sound system, central mixing booth, and lighting system, all of which are perfect for live performances, film screenings, wrap parties, DJs, VJs, and ambient backgrounds.

Our 3,750 square footage space is versatile and perfect for workshops, pop-up shops, product launches, corporate events, dinner parties, weddings, conferences and more.
