As a National Trust for Historic Preservation site, we believe that all Americans have a right to learn about their own history by visiting the places that surround us. This historic site is dedicated to filling in the gaps of our cultural heritage, particularly the stories of enslaved and freed Black communities, as well as the stories of their descendants. Take a look at our interpretation themes. All of our properties are on 126 historic acres in Alexandria, Virginia, and they include two historic properties and one working farm. It was built in 1805, and it was given to Nelly Custis and Lawrence Lewis as a gift by President George Washington. The site was used as a plantation, and the couple enslaved over 90 people while operating it. The Pope-Leighey House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is also located on the grounds, where visitors can explore and be inspired by the Usonian architecture and a vision for affordable, well-designed housing that Wright envisioned. We co-own the land with our partner, Arcadia Farm for Sustainable Agriculture, whose mission is to create a more equitable and sustainable local food system in the greater Los Angeles area. Our activities are spread out throughout the grounds and trails, and they are designed to promote learning as well as wellbeing as well as respite and enjoyment of the natural environment and its history. Immersive experiences, exhibitions, performances, and thought-provoking art are used to bring these stories and discussions to life. Across the grounds of Woodlawn and Pope-Leighey House, two historic homes situated on 120 acres of agricultural land farmed by our non-profit partner Arcadia, are intertwined tales of community transformation. Every celebration is celebrated with us because we are a space where everyone is welcome. In addition, we are always accepting wedding and event inquiries outside of our peak wedding season (April - November). Virtual and in-person wedding tours are currently being scheduled by appointment, and our historic estate will be open to the public for historic tours until December 13, 2021. Rock Hill Pavilion, formerly known as Rock Hill Plantation House, is a family-owned rural estate in Stafford, Virginia that has hosted weddings, conferences, and other celebrations for 18 years. The venue is owned and operated by Stefan and Dorothy Maier, and welcomes up to 120 guests for a single event with exclusive use of the property for the day. Nestled in the rolling countryside of northwestern Stafford, the estate's grounds include three ponds and several centenarian trees that provide a backdrop for wedding-day portraits. Couples prepare in the main house's antique-furnished Bridal Suite before exchanging vows in the outdoor Ceremonial Pavilion, surrounded by garden and pasture views. The celebration then moves indoors to the Carriage House Reception Hall, which features a chef's kitchen, wheelchair-accessible restrooms, and a veranda overlooking the pool and its fountain. Rock Hill Pavilion is located about an hour and fifteen minutes from Washington, D.C., with easy access to Interstate 95, Route 17, and Fredericksburg. Rental packages include exclusive use of the grounds, a complimentary rehearsal, event setup and cleanup, tables and chairs, and a 10% discount for military members and first responders.

For over 65 years, Springfield Golf & Country Club has been a private gathering place for members and their families in Springfield, Virginia, offering a golf course, tennis and racquets courts, a pool, and patio. Alongside its membership programs, the club hosts nonmember events such as weddings, galas, and seminars in its second-floor event spaces, with sponsorship by a member preferred but not required. The Grand Ballroom accommodates up to 220 guests for weddings, quinceañeras, and company holiday parties, with a chandelier, a large picture window overlooking the golf course, and access to a balcony with additional seating and lounge space. An airwall can divide the room into Ballroom A and Ballroom B for smaller gatherings, each with its own bar and views of the course. The club's culinary team offers plated and buffet dining, kids' menus, signature cocktails and mocktails, and desserts from an in-house pastry chef, with wedding cakes and other treats prepared on-site rather than delivered. Outside catering is not permitted, and the Director of Banquets & Special Events works with hosts on venue space, food and beverage minimums, and dietary accommodations.
