This Indian restaurant channels the rich tapestry of the sights and sounds of Goa and offers a menu with modern, often playful and interactive takes on Indian cooking. The stunning tri-level space stimulates the senses with vibrant pops of color, wall projections, custom designed lighting and art installations. Our main floor boasts of 2500 sqft space and the mezzanine covers 1000 sqft. We also recently debuted a 1,500-square-foot private dining room. A majestic space in every sense of the word, Broad Street Ballroom, part of Léman Manhattan Preparatory School, is one of New York City’s grandest event venues. 41 Broad was built in 1928 as the Lee, Higginson, & Company Bank Building. Cross & Cross architectural firm — known as Old Society New York’s architects of choice — designed it in an austere, late 1920’s Classical Revival style, an aesthetic that defined New York City both here and in other of their designs, including 20 Exchange Place, The Guggenheim Museum, and Columbia University Church of Notre Dame. Stepping into The Ballroom is like entering another era (with the exception of the amazing audio-visual setup). Located at 41 Broad Street in the heart of New York’s historic Financial District, the Broad Street Ballroom has captivated visitors for decades with its timeless elegance. The markers of New York’s Gilded Age complement this modern event space under Cathedral-height ceilings, with its Broadway-level 200-light rigging, full concert audio system, and modern HD projector with 22-foot by 22-foot screen. Originally designed in 1928 as a bank in the Classical Revival style by renowned architects Cross & Cross, the 5,800-square-foot Ballroom is adorned with 30-foot bronze capped marble mosaic columns. The room’s particular glory is a wraparound mural by artist Griffith Baily Coale, depicting generations of sailing vessels that reflect New York’s history as a port city and celebrate the Ballroom’s location in the heart of history. The Broad Street Ballroom is a place of celebration and community for the Léman Manhattan Preparatory School. Such events include The Ballroom’s partnership with The Artists Den, the critically acclaimed television and digital music series best known for presenting small, secret concerts by extraordinary artists in non-traditional settings for the TV show Live from the Artists Den. Al Coro is a restaurant designed for special occasions. The main dining room can accommodate parties of up to ten people. Each night there is live music. Larger events can be accommodated in a number of private rooms. The menu has meals that take some artistic license in addition to regional Italian cookery. A array of little morsels called aperitivi is served before the main course, antipasti, two pasta courses, and desserts. A condensed 5-course menu is available for $195 per person or the full 7-course menu costs $245. The menu is updated every six weeks, and while we don't post the entire list, you can get a sneak peek at some of the dishes on our Instagram at @alcoro.nyc if you can't stand the anticipation! Our main dining area has a private room that can accommodate up to 12 people on the mezzanine. For exclusive gatherings, underground private dining rooms may accommodate 180 people. Up to 200 people can be seated in the main dining room comfortably, and up to 1000 people can attend standing celebrations.

The compact restaurant room that was previously John Dory is now a pizzeria: Mel's, the first restaurant of a new culinary complex here, squeezed snuggly to one side of the former Del Posto. Melissa J. Rodriguez, a former Del Posto and Daniel chef, is teaming up with Jeff Katz and James Kent of Crown Shy and Saga to create this enormous location. While its finely calibrated lighting will keep it "glowy and sensual," it will also be the kind of restaurant you can pop into just because you're hungry and it's Tuesday. Mel's is warmly decorated with orange tones and polished light wood, with a bar and dining counter that open into a back dining area and a massive wood-fired pizza oven in the center. Ms. Rodriguez explained, "Everything is cooked with wood. There’s no gas here." The pizzas begin with a Margherita base but quickly branch out to include mushrooms, smoked mozzarella, and sliced shallots, as well as kale, basil pesto, ricotta, and preserved lemon. Wood-fired dishes include roasted parsnips with robiola cheese, roasted maitake mushrooms with soppressata piccante, and charred shrimp, as well as major courses such as entire fish, whole roasted cauliflower, and strip steak. Dessert is not an afterthought or something to forego at this pizzeria. Consider a milk chocolate gelato with a dark chocolate sable swirl, salted caramel and fior di latte gelato with caramel sauce and shortbread crumble, or a Little Italy-inspired Italian rainbow cookie hot fudge sundae.
