St. Andrew's-by-the-Sea is a historic stone chapel on the New Hampshire Seacoast that has welcomed worshippers and celebrants since its first service on August 4, 1876. Designed by Walter T. Winslow and George H. Wetherell, the chapel is a distinguished example of rural stone architecture influenced by English parish church design, featuring a distinctive interior where wooden trusses arranged like an inverted boat support a heavy slate roof. The chapel houses an extraordinary collection of stained glass, including two Tiffany windows, a window by John LaFarge, and three windows originally displayed at the 1876 Philadelphia Exposition. In 2002, the chapel was designated to the National Register of Historic Places; its slate roof was fully restored in 2019 with support from a state historic preservation grant. Weddings and ceremonies are held from mid-May through mid-October, welcoming up to 150 guests. Episcopal priests and clergy from other Christian denominations may officiate, and the venue is open to couples of all backgrounds. The chapel's events team recommends booking well in advance to secure a date.

You can almost imagine the big parties that have taken place throughout the decades to celebrate life, love of food, and good times. With these excellent places available for your perfect celebration, this local tradition continues today. The Biltmore, which opened in 1914, has a long history as a Newton favorite. It started out selling breakfast and ale to local industrial workers staying the night, and its four-lane bowling alley was a popular hangout for decades. The Biltmore was a secret speakeasy for the upper crust during prohibition, frequently hosting private events for dignitaries, politicians, and celebrities. The Biltmore underwent a stunning refurbishment a century after it first opened, restoring the ancient building's grandeur while providing a more pleasant atmosphere. Much of the original brick façade and interior have survived the test of time, as has the original wood flooring. We maintain the Biltmore's spirit alive today with American food and a rotating variety of local beers and handcrafted cocktails. Something exciting is always happening at the Biltmore. Flag Hill Distillery & Winery is a family-owned, 110-acre agricultural estate in Lee, New Hampshire, recognized as the state's oldest winery, largest vineyard, and oldest distillery. Grape growing began on the property in 1987, winery operations followed in 1990, and in 2004 the estate opened a distillery — the first legal distillery in New Hampshire since Prohibition. The acreage is permanently preserved under a conservation easement, and the property's own gardens and crops supply ingredients for the on-site kitchen throughout the year. Two distinct settings serve private events: a tented vineyard venue accommodating up to 300 guests for ceremonies and receptions set among the vine rows, and a restored post-and-beam barn suited to more intimate gatherings of up to 80. Both are supported by two dedicated on-site coordinators and an executive chef whose seasonal menus draw directly from the estate's gardens. Only one event is hosted per day.

Bull Run Restaurant has operated as a tavern and gathering place in Shirley, Massachusetts since 1740, making it one of the region's most historically rooted event settings. Family-owned since 2009, the farm-to-table restaurant and concert hall maintains the original character of its colonial-era building through features like century-old barrel tables and the historic "Drunkard's Progress" mural in the rustic tap room. Seven private event rooms accommodate groups ranging from 2 to 300 guests, from the intimate Chimney Room to the full Sawtelle Banquet Hall, which can be configured to host gatherings of 75 to 300. The Garden Room and its adjoining patio offer the flexibility of indoor-outdoor dining, accommodating up to 80 guests combined. The name traces to the property's origins as a Banks family summer retreat — built in 1902, it sat far enough from Boston for a two-day horse journey yet near enough for a seasonal return. The grounds offer an entirely outdoor setting: wooded trails, fields of wildflowers, an arboretum with more than 80 conifer species, remnants of a historic cranberry bog, and a 10-acre hemlock grove called Paradise. Events are anchored by an open-air pavilion with a fire pit. The Bull Run Restaurant serves as exclusive catering manager for all private events at Farandnear, bringing farm-to-table menus and full-service event coordination to the property.
