    Lake Shore Country Club

    Chicago, IL, USA

Lake Shore is a family-oriented private club on the shores of Lake Michigan that was founded in 1908. For more than a century, the Club has been a home away from home for generations of families and friends in Chicago and the North Shore. The Club, which is located on 127 acres in Glencoe, Illinois, is a haven for outdoor sports, leisure, and camaraderie about 25 miles north of Chicago. In addition to formal and informal dining and a bustling social schedule, Lake Shore has a championship 18-hole golf course, a full racquets program, and a waterfront swimming complex. Lake Shore's historic Howard Van Doren Shaw-designed Clubhouse, perched above a bluff, provides panoramic views of the lake and a lovely backdrop for in-season activities and private Member functions. Glencoe was a rural community, Sheridan Road was a dirt road, and the 127 acres where the Club now stands was primarily muddy scrubland known as Beck's Farm when the Club was created. Frederick Law Olmsted, widely regarded as the pioneer of American landscape architecture, and his sons, Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. and John Charles Olmsted, were engaged in 1909 to assist with the development of the site. In the same year, Howard Van Doren Shaw, another prominent Chicago architect, won a national architectural competition to design and build a clubhouse overlooking Lake Michigan. His vision of architecture that blended seamlessly into the landscape was identical to Olmsted's. The spirit of Lake Shore has remained the same for generations of families, many of whom are descendants or members of the original founding families, despite the fact that the Club's facilities and activities of interest have changed over the past century.

We prepare and cook our food in innovative and delicious ways, much as generations of pioneers did when they uprooted their lives and pushed for fresh beginnings in the American West a century ago. Our menu, created by James Beard Award semifinalist chef Brian Jupiter, pays homage to the foods that those pioneers ate and hunted while on the road, and we urge you to taste the contemporary day renditions of their fare while you dine. The greatest way to appreciate our meals is in a group environment. To provide you with an outstanding eating experience that is well-paired and well-fueled, we've preserved the early pioneers' enjoyment of family meal gatherings. Our bar offers a diverse selection of domestic and regional craft beers, great wines from across the world, and house-crafted creative cocktails created with only the highest-quality ingredients available. In addition, our comprehensive liquor bar can please even the most ardent cocktail connoisseur. So go ahead and live a little! Foods that you might not have considered trying or those you haven't seen on a menu before. Even if it's only from the comfort of your barstool, reconnect with your pioneering heritage. Take a journey out to the Frontier with your companions! In ten years, there have been over 9,000 events, and the number is growing. Make a reservation at Frontier to host your special event for a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable experience in our welcoming environment.

The grounds surrounding the tower are open all year during regular Park District hours, and you are welcome to come out and listen to the carillon at any of the scheduled performances. Throughout the year, a Carillon Ambassador will assist the Carillon's operations and activities by communicating with visitors and giving presentations to groups visiting the Carillon. Carillon Ambassadors will receive special training for this chance. During the open season, tourists can take a guided trip up the 253 steps to the top of the tower and experience the breathtaking view, which includes the Chicago Skyline on a clear day. Those who are unable to ascend the steps should take the elevator to the Gallery Level Observation Deck and stay there. For special requests, call the Naperville Park District at (630) 848-5000. Moser Tower and Millennium Carillon began as a labor of love by a small group of Naperville families in 1998, and the vision quickly spread to many others, who generously donated funds to make the vision a reality. The Millennium Carillon, like Centennial Beach and the Riverwalk, is a gift from the people of our town for future generations to enjoy. The trek to the open-air Observation Deck, which is 14 floors higher and nearly 10 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty, is a physical and mental challenge for those who are afraid of heights. The payoff, however, is a one-of-a-kind view of the city, including the Riverwalk and Centennial Beach, as well as the Chicago skyline on clear days.
