Unity on the North Shore is an Evanston spiritual community that has been hosting life ceremonies since the congregation moved into its current home on Christmas Eve 1960. The building — designed in a modern style and purpose-built for gathering — features a curved brick sanctuary and a brick courtyard set alongside a garden. The ministerial team performs weddings, commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, spiritual baptisms, funerals, memorials, and celebrations of life, customizing each service to reflect the family or couple being honored. Couples and families of all faiths, races, and backgrounds are welcomed.

It was October of 2019 when we opened our doors in the Albany Park neighborhood, just a few blocks north of the Kedzie Brown Line stop. After years in the service sector, the proprietor has worked as a photographer, chef, waiter, and all-around jack of all trades before opening his own business. Seasonal cocktails, late-night small plates and bar snacks, as well as rotating beer and wine, are served in an intimate and sophisticated space with attentive and friendly guest service. We host DJs and rotating art shows, as well as weekly service industry nights and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) nights. We're the perfect setting for a date night, a relaxed evening with a couple of friends, a business meeting with a few colleagues, or simply a place to say hello to your favorite bartenders while enjoying a food and a beverage with them. We can accommodate a range of parties, including milestone birthdays, weddings, business gatherings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, and more, thanks to our versatile setup, state-of-the-art lighting, and professional sound system. On one of our top-of-the-line microphones, you can give a heartfelt speech, project a slideshow or video, eat great appetizers and supper from Union Pizza, and sip on one of our many creative cocktail selections from the bar. Thousands of local and national touring performers have performed at SPACE over the last decade, including The Lumineers, Alabama Shakes, Graham Parker, Nick Lowe, David Lindley, The Weepies, Dr. John, Lucinda Williams, and many more. The recording studio has served as a creative environment for bands like The Strumbellas and The Lone Bellow to record, and it also provides a unique opportunity for musicians passing through to rehearse and collaborate prior to their performance. From folk to rock to jazz and beyond, SPACE delivers seated and standing-room-only concerts in a range of genres. A candle-lit cabaret table and general admission seats can easily seat 240 people, while standing room only concerts may hold 330 people. SPACE prides itself on creating an intimate venue for fans of all ages to get up-close-and-personal with their favorite acts, regardless of the performance format. 16" on Center, a Chicago-based development business that handles the operations of more than 15 restaurants and venues, including Thalia Hall in Pilsen and The Empty Bottle in the Ukrainian Village, is delighted to be a part of Evanston SPACE. SPACE has been named on DownBeat Magazine's, 93XRT's, and Chicago Tribune's finest venue lists. SPACE honored ten years of live music in 2018 with the inaugural "Out of Space" series, a complete summer of outdoor performances hosted by 93XRT in some of Evanston's most treasured spots. The concerts took place this summer at Canal Shores, an 18-hole golf course that opened in 1919 in Evanston; Temperance Beer Co., SPACE's neighbor one mile west on Dempster since 2013; and the Big Evanston Block Party, located just north of the venue and one block east of the Dempster Purple Line stop. SPACE closed its doors in the spring of 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and shifted its focus to creative, safe, and socially detached concert experiences. The Space Record Club matched new vinyl with local craft beer for fans' in-home listening enjoyment, while the To-Go Show series brought micro-concerts straight to Evanstonians' yards. From July to October, the Space Summer Stage hosted more than 80 performances by local and national touring artists under a large big top tent. SPACE hopes to continue exploring safe and exciting ways to serve Evanston through a range of performances, outdoor experiences, and community activities as we look to the future.

We can accommodate groups of 10 to 250 people for a one-of-a-kind dining experience that includes traditional Chinese food and a fresh sushi variety. Koi offers a wide range of alternatives whether you're organizing a sushi night with the girls, a corporate meal, a family event, or celebrating the holidays... The Merrick Rose Garden features hundreds of beautiful rose bushes, as well as the historic Fountain Square Centennial Fountain. The Garden is located at Lake Street and Oak Avenue, one block east of Ridge Avenue. In 2003, new garden lighting and irrigation systems were installed and the retaining walls were reconstructed. For private events, Bistro Campagne offers The Cottage, an intimate space that seats up to 48 guests. Designed in a blend of Prairie School and French provincial styles, The Cottage is available for full and partial rentals, with access to the patio and outdoor garden when weather allows. In medieval Ireland, a snug was a private area with its own entrance from the street and its own access to the bar, reserved only for ladies. We decided to open the Snug at the same time as the temperance movement began in Evanston to accommodate folks searching for a small private party area to enjoy our freshly-made drinks and our local fair. It has enough space for a cocktail party of up to 15 people or a seated meal for 10-14 people, as well as plenty of furniture and a huge window. Our dining room can handle a corporate lunch as well as a traditional family-style supper.. Whatever your requirements, we will do all we can to meet them. If you would want to listen to your own music, we offer audiovisual possibilities with our Sharp HD television and iPod ports. We can accommodate a party of 20 or less in a private dining experience by opening up our pre-cocktail window for you and your friends to enjoy. The Beacon Room, located on the second floor, is a semi-private area that can accommodate a group of 55 people for an intimate meal or a cocktail party for 65 people. The rental of the Beacon Room will include exclusive usage of the 2nd Floor Bar Area, which is located on the second floor of the building. For larger gatherings (over 50 people), the Beacon Room may be paired with the Hayloft room, which has a kitchen with plenty of chairs. Our Hay Loft, which is located upstairs and is fully private, can accommodate a party of 30 people for a sit-down romantic dinner or a cocktail party for 35 people. A cocktail event for up to 110 people may be held in conjunction with the Beacon Room, which can accommodate 80 people sitting down.

The stylish and comfortable furniture in our sophisticated lounge is ideal for cocktail parties, showers, and small gatherings. Since its erection in 1928, the majestic Oak Park Landmark building of the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association has served our communities. It was designed by architect James L. Fyfe, and it is listed as a "Contributing Resource within the Frank Lloyd Wright-Prairie School of Architecture Historic District" in a recent Village of Oak Park document. Our mission has been to promote study and charity since 1891. The Kenilworth Assembly Hall was designed by Chicago architect George W. Maher, who was a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright. It was completed in 1907.
