Later, I made my way into the New York City restaurant industry, where I worked as a pastry chef at the Russian Tea Room. I was awarded two gold medals by the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique's Salon of Culinary Art for my work in the kitchen. Having worked at places such as the Glen Oaks Country Club, City Hall, La Grenouille, and Gascogne Bistro, I decided to branch out and open my own restaurant on Staten Island in 2007. Over the course of seven years, the Alor Cafe has evolved into a fine dining and music venue. Today, I am the proud father of three children, and I live in Brooklyn with my wife. As a business owner, I take pleasure in giving back to my community. I also appreciate that Staten Island's accessibility allows for affordable ownership while still remaining connected to the city's energy. I recently ended my relationship with my long-term partner, but I'm ready to move on to the next phase. My current project is the "Better Burger" Project for the Chefs of America Foundation, on which I am currently working as a member. I've taken on this responsibility with the goal of demonstrating to the Staten Island community that eating healthy, sustainable foods is a wise choice and that this is the direction in which the restaurant market is moving.

The par-72, 7,190-yard championship course was designed by Tim Freeland of Jacksonville, FLA, who formerly worked for golf great Gary Player's design business and also collaborated on the design of Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club, Old Hickory's sister course. Rippon Lodge is a Prince William County historic site built circa 1747 for Richard Blackburn, making it one of the oldest surviving homes in the county. Set on 43 acres above the Potomac River, the property includes formal gardens, walking trails, and the Blackburn and Atkinson family cemetery, with a history that spans colonial tobacco production, Revolutionary War-era politics, and a family connection to George Washington's nephew by marriage. The home was updated in a Colonial Revival style beginning in 1923 and remained with descendants of its original builder until Prince William County acquired it in 2000. For events, Rippon Lodge offers grounds rental with vast lawns and outdoor gardens overlooking the Potomac River, suited to weddings and receptions of up to 150 to 200 guests under large reception tents. Music is permitted, and couples may bring in a caterer of their choice, with wine, beer, and champagne allowed under proper permits. Guided tours of the historic home can be arranged for guests on the day of an event with advance notice.

Mount Hope Hilltop Venue is a historic barn wedding destination set on a scenic hilltop in Michael, Illinois. The property traces its roots to the Mount Hope Settlement, established before 1840 in Calhoun County. The centerpiece three-story barn was constructed around 1830 and rebuilt and expanded between 1860 and 1870, with its basement hand-excavated by removing 750 tons of dirt and original redwood timbers shipped in by steamboat from Hamburg. At its peak around 1900, the settlement included tenant houses, blacksmith shops, a sawmill, and more than 15,000 orchard trees. Today, the property combines that timeless architecture with a koi pond, apple orchard, and sweeping hilltop views. Event spaces include a rustic reception hall with soaring pitched ceilings and glowing chandeliers, a historic three-story ceremony barn with exposed beams and warm wood walls, multiple outdoor ceremony areas, and The Cellar Room — a screened-in space beneath the Red Barn featuring stone walls and a raw-edge wooden bar overlooking the pond. The Powell Barn's Background Powell Barn & Events is a family-owned and operated special events location in the gorgeous North Georgia Mountains' foothills. Our event will take place on our private 200-acre horse farm, which features a unique mix of grazing pastures, breathtaking mountain views, and isolated forest trails. Momma and Papa Powell, their 6 children, and 11 grandchildren make up the Powell Family, a close-knit and friendly community of nearly 25 members. The Barn can accommodate up to 130 guests and has a spectacular mountain view, whereas The Woods is located down a meandering walk among tall trees and lush ferns and is better suited for a smaller group of up to 75 people. The Barn is a wonderful place to visit. A rustic open-air barn setting with wandering grasslands, majestic mountain ranges, and breathtaking sunset views straight from our ceremony and reception locations. The Barn features a 6,000-square-foot room with glittering lights, antique furniture, and a lovely outdoor arbor that can be covered and decorated. Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve is a 134-acre native plant sanctuary in Bucks County's Pidcock Creek Valley, near Washington Crossing Historic Park, where over 700 species native to Pennsylvania grow across roughly 4.5 miles of trails through forest, meadow, and streamside habitat. Established in 1934 as a memorial to the Revolutionary War patriots who camped in the area with George Washington's army, the preserve has grown into an accredited botanical garden built almost entirely around native plantings first established under botanist Dr. Edgar T. Wherry. For weddings and private events, the grounds offer several distinct outdoor settings, from the timber-framed Moore Pavilion, which seats up to 200 with picnic tables and a wood-burning fireplace, to the stone-patio Pond area, the wooded Gazebo, and the Stone Bridge over Pidcock Creek for smaller ceremonies. Tent rentals through the preserve's event partner can accommodate gatherings of up to 350. Special events at the preserve are managed by its exclusive event partner, Open Aire Affairs.

The largest independent, family-owned brewery native to the Southeast, Highland has been led since 2018 by Leah Wong Ashburn, Oscar's daughter.
