Water Gap Country Club traces back to Wolf Hollow Country Club, whose 18-hole championship golf course was completed in 1922 by Robert White, a founder of the PGA. From 1926 to 1928 the course hosted the Eastern Open, drawing legends of the game including Gene Sarazen and Walter Hagen. The club went bankrupt during World War II and sat vacant for fifteen years before local golf figure Howard Knickman purchased and restored the grounds in 1957, reopening it as Water Gap Country Club. Today the resort sits on 160 acres in the Poconos, on the doorstep of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and the Appalachian Trail, with the championship golf course as its backdrop. The Bronxville Women's Club, Inc. occupies the Anna Lawrence Bisland House, a 1928 landmark in Bronxville, New York. Founded in 1925 and listed on both the Westchester County Inventory of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places, the clubhouse has served as a community gathering place for nearly a century. The club's Ballroom — described as the only midsize hall in lower Westchester — accommodates up to 165 guests and features a stage, making it well suited for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, concerts, and private celebrations. Having worked at places such as the Glen Oaks Country Club, City Hall, La Grenouille, and Gascogne Bistro, I decided to branch out and open my own restaurant on Staten Island in 2007. Over the course of seven years, the Alor Cafe has evolved into a fine dining and music venue. Today, I am the proud father of three children, and I live in Brooklyn with my wife. As a business owner, I take pleasure in giving back to my community. I also appreciate that Staten Island's accessibility allows for affordable ownership while still remaining connected to the city's energy. I recently ended my relationship with my long-term partner, but I'm ready to move on to the next phase. My current project is the "Better Burger" Project for the Chefs of America Foundation, on which I am currently working as a member. I've taken on this responsibility with the goal of demonstrating to the Staten Island community that eating healthy, sustainable foods is a wise choice and that this is the direction in which the restaurant market is moving.
