History Pelham Country Club began as a modest tennis club and five-hole golf course carved out of a cow meadow in 1908. Today, the club boasts a membership of over 2,000 people. When an influential member called Mont Rogers formed a corporation to purchase the site, he contacted famed golf architect Devereux Emmet to design a championship golf course. The course was completed in the summer of 1921. Pelham's golf course, which was created from virgin woodland and winds its way around and over rolling, low-lying hills, offers a variety of scenic panoramas of exceptional beauty. It is difficult to think that Manhattan is only 15 miles away, given the natural beauty of its surroundings, which is comparable only to an old English park. To serve as Pelham's first golf professional, Rogers brought in "Long" Jim Barnes, who was then ranked among the world's top three golfers, to work alongside the course's construction crew. One week after opening the new course, Jim Barnes went down to Columbia Country Club in Washington, D.C., and handily won the 1921 U.S. Open Championship. Barnes also won the inaugural PGA Championship, which was held at neighboring Siwanoy C.C., and was awarded the U.S. Open Trophy in 1921 by President Warren G. Harding, who also served as Barnes' caddie. Pelham Country Club became the epicenter of the golfing universe almost immediately. President Harding was appointed an honorary member of the Club, and Jim Barnes, the new "Pride of Pelham," was welcomed home with a spectacular gala hosted at the Club. Finally, in 1923, it was decided to stage the PGA Championship at Pelham Country Club, and what a fantastic championship it turned out to be. In attendance were all of the top golf pros of the day, and the fiercely-fought championship game, which pitted Gene Sarazen against Walter Hagen, has stood the test of time. It is still considered to be one of the most dramatic match play finals in the history of the Championship, with Gene Sarazen taking home the victory after an incredible 38-hole battle.

The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, located in the Bronx's Pelham Bay Park and the only remaining big country estate in the city, covers the social history of the individuals who lived and worked on the estate during the nineteenth century. The mission of the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, which is the last remaining "great country estate" in the Bronx Pelham Bay Park, is to create a vibrant site through the preservation, restoration, and interpretation of the property and grounds for the benefit of the public throughout the greater New York City metropolitan area and beyond. In order to achieve our mission, we must do the following things: 1) protect, preserve, and restore the site's architecture, landscape, and collection; 2) interpret the site's history in compelling and innovative ways; and 3) develop dynamic education programs for students in grades K-12, adults, and families. Atop a hill above Sunnyside, the famed author's home in Tarrytown, the Tarrytown House Estate offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area, which is rich in history and folklore. Other attractions in "Sleepy Hollow Country" include Kykuit, the Rockefeller family estate in Pocantico Hills; Lyndhurst, the former residence of financier Jay Gould; and Philipsburg Manor, a colonial farm.

The historic gardens at Planting Field make the ideal location for weddings, rehearsal dinners, and other special occasions. After the gardens have closed to the public, ceremonies for weddings and other celebrations usually start at 5 o'clock or later. Landmark on Main Street is a not-for-profit performing arts and community center at 232 Main Street in Port Washington, NY. The venue is housed within a 1994 renovation of an 87-year-old former school building, transformed into a 25,000-square-foot complex that includes the 425-seat Jeanne Rimsky Theater. The Belvedere Estate, situated on more than 25 acres in Westchester County, is a one-of-a-kind property. The estate consists of a large house and many smaller structures scattered over the grounds, all of which include excellent historical elements from the 1920s. The Belvedere was once part of Philipsburg Manor, a 90,000-acre property and one of America's richest landholdings, and was built in the 1910s. Dr. Philip Gillette Cole bought it in 1928 and renamed it Zeeview. It was built by Florence and Casper Whitney and purchased by Dr. Philip Gillette Cole in 1928. The home at Zeeview looked out over the huge Hudson River and the "Tappan Zee" with ease. The Coles erected the Agora House and the Studio on the land and displayed their significant collection of American Western art, which was ultimately moved to the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The estate was purchased by Samuel Bronfman of the Seagrams Whiskey dynasty after Cole's death. After the Bronfmans' primary mansion in Toronto, the property was christened Belvedere. Belvedere became the headquarters of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification in 1972. Alder Manor is a 72-room Renaissance Revival mansion in Yonkers, New York, designed in 1912 by the architecture firm Carrère and Hastings for mining magnate William Boyce Thompson. Named for Thompson's Montana hometown of Alder Gulch, the estate sits on more than six acres of classically inspired gardens filled with authentic Roman artifacts imported from Italy in the early twentieth century. The interior is defined by a succession of original architectural features: marble floors, walnut and oak paneling, a rare English-style trompe-l'oeil ceiling, a 15th-century Italian stone fireplace, an actual 16th-century Italian church façade incorporated into the structure, a three-story staircase, and an indoor tiled pool topped by a stained glass window. Many of the 72 rooms retain original Renaissance paintings and historic artifacts. The grounds command views of the Hudson River and the Palisades. Alder Manor is available for film, photo, and commercial shoots, with convenings, retreats, private events, and weddings anticipated in 2026.
