Rancho Los Cerritos is a historic home and gardens nestled in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, California. Built in the mid-1800s, the two-story adobe structure served as the headquarters of a sprawling cattle and sheep ranch before evolving through generations of California history. Today, the 4.74-acre property holds Local, State, and National Historic Landmark designations, offering a setting shaped by centuries of California heritage. The grounds — designed by landscape architect Ralph D. Cornell in the 1930s — feature four distinct outdoor and semi-indoor event spaces, from the expansive Backyard with its 150-year-old Moreton Bay Fig tree and Italian Cypresses to the intimate Inner Courtyard centered on a reflecting pond. A Petite Garden provides privacy for smaller gatherings, while the Sun Porch is the venue's only fully enclosed indoor space, with glass walls looking out onto the courtyard. Pío Pico State Historic Park preserves the restored adobe home of Pío de Jesus Pico, the last Mexican governor of California, on a five-acre property in Whittier that was once part of his 9,000-acre Rancho Paso de Bartolo. The site is registered as California Historic Landmark No. 127 and offers a rare window into mid-19th-century California history. The grounds feature the fifteen-room adobe residence with interpretive displays, a traditional horno (bread oven), a dovecote, and historic gardens — making it a distinctive outdoor setting for weddings, ceremonies, and private events. Situated steps from a Marine Protected Area, the facility offers a genuinely distinctive backdrop for private events — one where tall-ship replicas dock at the working wharf and ocean views frame nearly every space. Four distinct event venues span a range of guest counts and atmospheres. The Samueli Conference Center & Courtyard seats up to 180 guests beneath vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, while the open-air Surf Deck delivers 180-degree ocean views for more intimate gatherings of up to 80. The Maddie James Maritime Wharf places events directly on the waterfront, overlooking the harbor and the Institute's historic vessels. For smaller meetings, the Executive Boardroom accommodates up to 18 with harbor views and integrated AV. In-house event staff assist with planning and day-of coordination. The Brad Brafford LGBTQ Center on 4th serves as the social hub for Orange County's LGBTQ community, located at 305 E. 4th Street in downtown Santa Ana, California. Operated by LGBTQ Center Orange County, the Center on 4th is housed in a dedicated space that brings together art, culture, and community through exhibits, courses, workshops, and events. The venue offers three rentable areas: the Max A. Schneider Gallery, a light-filled indoor gallery with hardwood floors and rotating artwork on its walls; the Jeff Brummett and Marc Lafont Patio, an outdoor space strung with festoon lighting; and small meeting rooms suited for intimate gatherings and presentations. Spaces accommodate events ranging from conferences and cocktail mixers to ceremonies and receptions, with a shared kitchen available for catering use.
