Meadowlark 1939, a historic estate 50 minutes south of Atlanta and steeped in history, is a reminiscence of English-inspired gardens combined with the warmth and welcome of southern charm. With crawling ivy, magnolia trees, statues and statuettes, clear lakes, and walkways to meander, we've created an environment where significant moments and connections can flourish! The journey begins with a site visit, during which you will be able to appreciate the beauty and heart of Meadowlark 1939 and her caretakers. We guarantee that from the moment you set foot on the site, you will "feel" the beautiful wedding setting of your dreams. Meadowlark Garden consisted of a total of seven acres of old formal gardens, which were set inside a 400-acre conservation area. The ancient property, which was built in 1883, has 2,200 square feet of furnished area for preparations and storage. Our 150-year-old Pecan tree provides a gorgeous backdrop for any event, and the site can accommodate up to 300 guests depending on the configuration of your event. There are a variety of ceremony and reception sites available on the property. Ingram family has owned this historically historic property since it was purchased in 1939, when they purchased the original farmhouse built in 1891, which is now a museum. When Frank Ingram and his wife, Rhoda Hopson Ingram, bought the ancient farmhouse, they immediately started renovating it and planting flowers in it. Rhoda Hopson had a genuine passion for gardening, and she imagined walkways and allees that would meander through pleasant garden rooms, which she saw come to fruition throughout her life. A number of years later, her grandson Jay Averett, together with the property's caretakers, AP and Alea Moore, revived the gorgeous property as Meadowlark 1939, bringing it back to life.

In 1836, Judge John Harris erected the residence as his townhouse. He possessed a huge property in Covington that was robbed by federal troops in 1864 when Sherman's march to the sea got underway. Sherman and Harris kept journals detailing their thirty-day stay at the Harris Plantation, which may be found at the Atlanta History Center. Following the Civil War with the property changing hands, Robert Franklin Wright purchased the property for $1,000. The Cedars is the name Robert and Salina gave to their home. They renovated the mansion's interior and built a boxwood garden on the back. Your event will have plenty of space both outside and indoors. Host an unforgettable social gathering or have a memorable wedding ceremony at the historic venue setting. Designed by Philip Trammel Shutze in 1928 for Edward and Emily Inman, Swan House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This Atlanta landmark is versatile enough to host a dinner party or act as a pre-function space for the Grand Overlook ballroom. Consider adding a costumed interpreter that will perform historical character narratives. Edward Inman was heir to a large cotton brokerage fortune amassed after the Civil War. He was an Atlanta businessman with interests in real estate, transportation, and banking. His wife Emily was involved in philanthropy, politics, and society. In 1924, they hired the architectural firm of Hentz, Reid, and Adler to design a house for their property in Buckhead, a residential suburb of Atlanta. Noted architect Philip Trammel Shutze designed Swan House and its gardens, as well as many other important buildings in the city. He adapted Italian and English classical styles to accommodate 20th-century living for Swan House, which many consider his finest residential work. Emily lived in Swan House until her passing at age 84 in 1965. In 1966, the Atlanta Historical Society purchased the home and most of its original furnishings, ranging from 18th-century antiques to 20th-century objects. It opened to the public in 1967 as a house museum and headquarters of the Atlanta Historical Society. Formal gardens surround and showcase the 1928 historic mansion. Reminiscent of great Italian gardens, it is perched on a hill with a cascading fountain, terraced lawns, roses tumbling over stone walls, and clipped hedges. An intimate boxwood garden and formal motor court complete the landscape, making this one of Atlanta’s best-known and photographed sites. The lawns can accommodate 50 to 750 guests. Because Swan House is a historic house museum, parties and receptions are not allowed inside the mansion, but your guests can tour the mansion for a few hours during your event.

The Swan Coach House, located in Buckhead on the grounds of the Atlanta History Center, provides guests with a comprehensive overview of the city of Atlanta. This historic structure is home to an art gallery, a restaurant, a gift store, and a variety of event facilities for all occasions. The proceeds will be used to support the visual arts community in Atlanta. With sliding glass doors that open onto a terrace on the top level, the Katydid Room is a bright and airy space. The Swan Room, located on the second level, is a cozy and well-liked space. Sally's Porch is a private room on the upper level with a wonderful view of the grounds. It is accessible only via stairs. The surrounding outside patio and garden are accessible from both sides of this magnificent space, which is encircled by French doors on two sides. The BelleNita Room is equipped with audiovisual capabilities as well as a built-in bar. This room, which is located on the main floor, is the focal point of the Swan Coach House and makes for an ideal backdrop for any occasion. In addition, the Gift Shop and Gallery are housed on the first floor of the building.

King + Duke, a chef-owned restaurant from Atlanta’s Ford Fry, offers a seasonal dining experience in the heart of Buckhead. A 24-foot open hearth is the restaurant’s centerpiece, and our passion for cooking over wood comes through in every dish. Named after characters in Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, King + Duke nods to classic literature and American traditions. The locally sourced dishes harken back to the way food used to be prepared: cooking over fire is a primitive technique that lets the ingredients speak for themselves. Parties of up to 14 people can be accommodated in the private Drawing Room, which can be hired with a preset or open menu. This totally enclosed area is located on the upper floor and has historic oil paintings, plush chairs, a built-in library, and a flat-screen television that is accessible for use if desired. In combination with a spectacular wall of floor-to-ceiling windows and a music system with individual volume control, this space creates an enticingly pleasurable atmosphere. There is a meal and beverage minimum requirement. To accommodate special events, the restaurant can be closed to the general public for your convenience. The restaurant's complete dining room, bar, and patio area will be purchased as part of the transaction. Our facility can accommodate a seated lunch or supper event for up to 100 people.
