The Cuban Club is a historic four-story landmark in Ybor City, Tampa, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built in 1917 — replacing a wooden structure lost to fire the year before — the Neoclassical yellow brick building was founded in 1902 as El Circulo Cubano, a mutual aid society for Cuban immigrants. Today it operates as a multi-purpose event rental facility, hosting weddings, galas, corporate functions, concerts, and cultural events across its distinct spaces. The venue encompasses five event areas ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale productions: the Grand Ballroom on the fourth floor seats up to 480 guests; the historic Theater holds 475 in terraced seating across two levels; The Cantina accommodates 275 seated or 780 standing with a permanent stage and full-service bar; and the expansive outdoor Courtyard spans over 35,000 square feet with capacity for up to 4,500 guests. Joe was a popular choice for roles as a commentator in movies, commercials, and news broadcasts; he had even been nominated for an Academy Award. His nickname was "The Voice." After many years of keeping a busy schedule and commuting from New York to Miami, he and his wife Doris were looking for a peaceful getaway retreat they could get away to. Because Joe had a passion for horses, he established the Aragon Ranch, where Doris later began cultivating beautiful gardens for the family to enjoy. She planted dozens upon dozens of camellias and azaleas in the garden. In point of fact, she has all of her grandchildren represented by their very own individual camellia bushes. Their son Malcolm took over the garden design and began working alongside Doris to sell tropical plants all over the country after taking over the business from his parents. This resulted in the development of one-of-a-kind landscape design areas, which in turn continued to contribute to the beauty of the gardens. After some time had passed, Leah, daughter of Malcolm, and Joe, daughter of Leah's husband, opened up the stunning gardens, which had been meticulously maintained, as a one-of-a-kind wedding venue for engaged couples who were looking for an elegant garden setting for their special day. The Tampa Bay History Center is a 60,000-square-foot museum and event venue situated on Tampa's Riverwalk at 801 Water Street, accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution. Opened in 2009, the center explores 12,000 years of Florida history across three levels of galleries — from indigenous peoples through the Cigar City era and into contemporary times — and houses the Touchton Map Library, home to one of the largest collections of Florida maps in the world.
