Located in Ojai, CA, The Dutchess is a multi-faceted venue that hosts rehearsal dinners, wedding showers, and other parties. The historic building feels like it was built for parties! Many great events have been held here throughout the years and the team is so proud and excited to be carrying on the tradition. The Dutchess is an all-day bakery, café and Burmese-Californian restaurant housed in a 1927-era building on the site of Ojai’s first bakery. It's an “everything place” that captures the spirit of the town’s farmers and artisans, and is a fun, eclectic collaboration amongst friends and family—Restaurateurs Zoe Nathan and Josh Loeb, Pastry Chef Kelsey Brito and Chef Saw Naing. It’s a place to come in the morning for a cappuccino and a croissant, take home a loaf of bread, meet friends for sandwiches, salads and flatbreads at lunch. Nighttime shifts into an energetic restaurant featuring Burmese fare, as a celebration of Saw’s heritage, along with farmers’ market-driven cocktails, regional craft beers and small production wines focused on grapes farmed in an ecologically-responsible way. Everything is crafted from beautiful ingredients, with the majority coming from within 50 miles, including Zoe and Josh’s 50/50 Farms and other farms focused on soil health. The entire restaurant features historic-inspired pieces sourced from local sellers, California flea markets, antique stores and more, all balanced with a fresh, clean and airy look. In February 2016, we opened the doors to Brass Bear Brewing in the Funk Zone of Santa Barbara, CA, one block from the ocean, featuring our high-quality craft beer, rotating guest taps, wine, sparkling wine, and cider. Locally sourced ingredients are vital to our menu. Our menu comprises locally sourced charcuterie boards, tri-tip skewers, chicken, shrimp, occasionally shark, burger, and hot toasted sandwiches. During a cross-country National Parks road trip from New York to California, the Brass Bear name was born! Coincidentally, in our favorite park. We went camping in Glacier (the kind which involves signing your life away at the ranger station and being armed with bear spray). The late afternoon sun hit the bears perfectly and turned them into a beautiful brass color. They glanced our way and with a decisive grunt carried on. We agreed over dinner that night that this would be the perfect name for our own business one day, to remind us to face our fears and keep on trekking!

Tierra Rejada Ranch was founded in 1935 by Monroe Everett. His grandfather, Aratus Everett was one of the earliest ranchers in the Moorpark area arriving in 1889. In the early years the farm produced many different "dry land" crops such as barley, blackeye peas, and lima beans. After Monroe discovered water, he started growing tomatoes and developing walnut, valencia orange and avocado orchards. Tierra Rejada Ranch's Walnut Grove is snuggled in a pristine valley between the cities of Thousand Oaks and Moorpark. The property covers over 120 acres of prime Southern California land. Typical hot summer daytime temperatures are mild because of gentle ocean breezes from the west. Activities may be located in full sun, in the shade of tall 100' eucalyptus or under 50 year-old walnut trees planted by Monroe himself. In 1991 the Walnut Grove area was constructed and opened by hosting fund-raisers for the Moorpark Rotary Club. Since that time there have been hundreds of events ranging from weddings to corporate picnics and family reunions. The guests enjoy the chance to be out in the country on a real working farm. The peaceful atmosphere, the towering eucalyptus trees, and the adjacent creek all combine to provide a unique and private location for special occasions. Every effort has been made to accommodate the needs of guests and clients and yet still retain the character and feel of a genuine southern California ranch.
