James Monroe's Highland is the historic Albemarle County home of the fifth U.S. President, set in the Virginia hills near Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's estate. Construction on the property began in 1797, and the main house Monroe and his family occupied was completed in 1799; an 1818 guesthouse still stands today. Now owned and operated by the College of William & Mary, Monroe's alma mater, Highland operates as a museum dedicated to sharing the full history of the site, including the stories of the enslaved men, women, and children who lived and worked there. With more than 30 years of experience hosting private events, Highland offers indoor and outdoor spaces for meetings, conferences, retreats, and family gatherings, including the Event Barn and the Hilltop Pavilion, the latter offering panoramic mountain views. The grounds also include rustic trails and yard spaces available for outdoor gatherings. Guests can add a guided history walk or one of Highland's educational programs, delivered by the Highland team, to deepen an event with the site's history.

The property has been in the Winslow family since 1978, and the 1884 farmhouse still stands on the land where the family once raised beef cattle. About a decade ago, the family converted an old pole barn into an event space, hosting their own daughter's wedding there before opening the venue to other couples. The barn hosts up to 150 guests for a wedding weekend, with exclusive use of the property from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Couples can hold their ceremony outdoors beneath a 200-year-old oak tree or by the pond, or indoors with the barn doors open, and reception inside the climate-controlled barn with heating and air conditioning. Two suites above the barn, Riverside and Fieldside, serve as bridal-party dressing rooms on the wedding day and can also be booked for overnight stays. Barn at Edgewood hosts a limited number of weddings each year, and requires couples to work with a professional wedding planner and a licensed, full-service caterer.

The Winery at La Grange sits on land originally part of Robert "King" Carter's Bull Run Tract in Haymarket, Virginia, and traces its centerpiece — a three-story red brick manor house — to builder George Green. Boxwoods planted generations ago have grown to over 20 feet, forming a natural archway along the stone path that connects the manor house to the winery. Benoni E. Harrison purchased the property in 1827 and later served as Prince William County's delegate to the Virginia General Assembly; his name lives on today in Benoni's Lounge, the estate's stone-walled cellar. The winery grows 6.3 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Petit Manseng grapes on the working farm, producing wines described as ones where "every glass tells a story." For weddings, private events, and corporate gatherings, the property's Barn Building serves as its main event space, with suggested floor plans accommodating up to 150 guests and wedding rentals that include the ballroom, bar, bridal suite, patios, kitchen, and grounds.

Founded by Patrick and Peggy Duffeler, who planted the property's first grapevines in 1985 and released its first vintage in 1988, the estate now includes more than 50 acres of vineyard and over 150 acres of woods. For weddings, the winery offers ceremony and reception spaces ranging from the raised Wessex Lawn, overlooking newly planted vineyards and a duck pond, to Wessex Hall, a 4,600-square-foot banquet room built in 2000 in the style of a 17th-century cruciform timbered structure, lit by iron chandeliers and featuring two stone fireplaces imported from Bordeaux, France. Westbury Hall, a Tudor-style barn with exposed oak beams, natural light, and a walk-out ramp entrance, suits smaller ceremonies and cocktail hours, while its lower level, Westbury Cellar, offers an intimate dining room with views into the estate's barrel cellar. The property also includes Wedmore Place, a 28-room boutique hotel, and the Gabriel Archer Tavern restaurant. For corporate gatherings, the White Horse Meeting Room provides vaulted ceilings, European antiques, audio/visual equipment, and seating for up to 15 guests around an oak boardroom table.
