Agawam Hunt is a private country club set on 130 wooded, riverside acres in Rumford, Rhode Island, just across the water from Providence's East Side. Founded in 1897 as a fox hunting organization, the club traces its roots to the Providence County Hunt of the 1870s and has occupied its current clubhouse site, a former farmhouse, since that era. In 2018, New Agawam, LLC acquired the property and partnered with The Nature Conservancy to permanently protect eleven of the club's interior golf course holes from development. The clubhouse offers formal and casual indoor spaces alongside outdoor venues on the property's rolling lawns and gardens, suited to weddings, showers, milestone celebrations, and corporate gatherings across the seasons. Concord Art — formally the Concord Center for the Visual Arts — occupies the historic John Ball House (circa 1752) at 37 Lexington Road in Concord, Massachusetts. Founded in 1917 by American Impressionist Elizabeth Wentworth Roberts, it is among the oldest continuously operating art organizations in the country, with a permanent collection rooted in early 20th-century work and four rotating galleries that remain free and open to the public. The building's rooms lend themselves naturally to private events. The Roberts Gallery on the second floor spans 30 by 40 feet under a turn-of-the-century skylight, with hardwood floors, built-in speakers, a screen and presentation system, and lift access. Built in 1822, the Aldrich House is a National Historic Landmark located on the beautiful and historic East Side of Providence. The house was presented to the Rhode Island Historical Society in 1974 by the heirs of Winthrop W. Aldrich, a former Ambassador to Great Britain, and it also serves as the Rhode Island Historical Society headquarters, hosting RIHS special events and programs by appointment. Robert S. Burroughs hired noted Rhode Island architect John Holden Greene to build the house in 1821; it was completed in 1822, the same year the Rhode Island Historical Society was founded. The Aldrich family later shaped national history from this address: Nelson W. Aldrich rose to the U.S. Senate in 1881 and helped lay the groundwork for the Federal Reserve, his daughter Abby married John D. Rockefeller Jr., and their son, Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, was named after him. During World War II, another daughter, Lucy Aldrich, sheltered Scottish evacuee children at the house.
