    Capitol Theatre Ballroom

1015 Main St, Wheeling, WV 26003, USA
    • Spaces for 250 Guests

The Capitol Theatre Ballroom sits on the second floor of the Capitol Theatre, a Beaux-Arts building that opened in downtown Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1928. The room was never meant to be a ballroom. It was built as the lobby for an eight-story hotel planned above the theatre, and its foundation and massive steel beams were engineered to carry those eight additional stories. The hotel never went up. The ballroom is built to reconfigure — theatre style, classroom style, board style, u-shape, hollow square, whatever an event calls for. A permanent stage carries built-in audio and projection. Elevator or stairs reach it. Since the theatre reopened in 2009, the room has drawn national touring musicians for intimate concerts, comedians, and speaking engagements with U.S. political leaders. It also hosts wedding receptions and other private events. Two more spaces round out the theatre: the Lobby, suited to press conferences and small receptions, and the Beaux-Arts Mezzanine, reached by the grand staircases and set for cocktail receptions and intimate dinners.

    Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack

1 S Stone St, Wheeling, WV 26003, USA
    • Spaces for 600 Guests

In Wheeling, West Virginia, Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack folds a full events program into a property already built for a crowd — casino floor, hotel, and greyhound track sharing the same grounds. Five multi-purpose event venues carry the private-event side, staffed by a team that coordinates catering, technical needs, and décor for conferences, holiday office parties, bridal and baby showers, team-building sessions, and private events. Weddings get their own lane. A range of West Virginia wedding packages can be shaped around each couple's vision for a distinctive casino wedding. Much of the appeal is what surrounds the celebration: guests can step away to slots, table games, and poker, follow the greyhound racing and sportsbook, or settle into one of the hotel's rooms and suites without leaving the grounds. Banquet and catering service ties it together for events that want dining, entertainment, and overnight stays in a single place.

    Grand Vue Park

250 Trail Dr, Moundsville, WV 26041, USA
    • Spaces for 35-225 Guests
    • 3 Outdoor Spaces
    • 3 Parks

High on a hilltop in Marshall County, West Virginia, Grand Vue Park looks out across the Ohio Valley, where rolling hills and rivers fill the view below. It is a recreational park that opens its grounds to weddings, banquets, and gatherings of every kind, and much of its welcome comes from the setting itself. Guests find a choice of indoor and open-air settings. The Banquet Hall is a customizable room framed by wooden beams, with an adjoining patio just outside — an easy fit for wedding receptions and milestone celebrations. Beyond it, the Overlook Terrace sets ceremonies against the valley below, and a courtyard offers another spot to exchange vows in the open air. For reunions, graduation parties, and cookouts, a collection of shelters hosts groups from a few dozen up to 200, several with grills, a kitchen, and the same long view over the valley. There is plenty to keep a celebration going once the toasts are done. Ziplines and aerial courses, swimming pools, hiking trails, disc golf, and mini golf spread across the park, while cabins, treetop villas, and an RV park give guests a place to stay — turning a wedding or family reunion into a whole weekend rather than a single afternoon.

    • Spaces for 150-250 Guests
    • 1 Ballroom
    • 1 Country Club

Sandstone barged up the Ohio River from Isabella, Pennsylvania went into the clubhouse that has stood above Weirton since 1932 — a one-of-a-kind stone building from the depths of the Great Depression, when Weirton Steel bought the 150 acres of bluff it sits on. Williams Golf and Country Club grew from a nine-hole course, laid out by Emil 'Dutch' Loeffler and John McGlynn, into the par-72, 18-hole layout that has since hosted the USGA, the West Virginia Golf Association, the Tri-State PGA, and three West Virginia Opens. Celebrations here trace back nearly as far: a 1937 wedding on the front lawn of the club's stone Lodge once made the pages of Time. Today the Grand Ballroom carries that thread indoors, its hardwood floors and neutral decor accented with Swarovski crystals, while lawns overlooking the river and course serve as ceremony sites. The club hosts weddings, banquets, corporate gatherings, wine tastings, and themed dinners for as many as 200 guests, with plated menus from the executive chef's kitchen.

    • 1 Outdoor
    • 1 Barn
    • 2 Total Spaces

Shady Elms Farm is an all-inclusive wedding venue in Hickory, Pennsylvania, roughly 25 miles from Pittsburgh and 7 miles from Washington, PA. The 194-acre property has been in the same family for three generations, and it still operates as a working farm alongside its wedding business, raising grass-fed beef cattle and producing hay. Five border collies from the same bloodline live and work on the farm and often greet guests during events. At the center of the property is a climate-controlled barn, renovated in 2018, with aged wood, large windows, soft lighting, and a covered porch overlooking a pond and ceremony lawn — it accommodates up to 250 guests. A 60x100-foot patio holds a pristine white tent with an inlaid 20x35-foot dance floor for receptions of up to 400 guests, set beside a tree grove strung with hanging mason jars. Couples can also marry on the lawn beneath a custom vining arbor with a crystal chandelier backed by the pond, or host cocktail hour in the Carriage House, which features exposed wood beams, a crystal chandelier, string lights over the patio, and garden tables on the surrounding lawn. Shady Elms Farm was launched in 2010 by Joelle and Alex Cowden, who renovated the grounds with family and friends and held their own wedding there to officially open the venue. Packages are all-inclusive, covering planning meetings, rehearsal time, bridal suite access, ceremony and reception spaces, catering, bar service, florals, and decor coordination.
