The Belvedere was once part of Philipsburg Manor, a 90,000-acre property and one of America's richest landholdings, and was built in the 1910s. Dr. Philip Gillette Cole bought it in 1928 and renamed it Zeeview. It was built by Florence and Casper Whitney and purchased by Dr. Philip Gillette Cole in 1928. The home at Zeeview looked out over the huge Hudson River and the "Tappan Zee" with ease.
