  As a result of our desire to be closer to our children and grandkids, we closed the doors of our long-standing San Antonio-based business, Steve Heflin Architect/Builder (www.steveheflinhomes.com), and relocated to the Ft Worth region in 2011. The idea of a commercial venture that would bring together our talents in design, construction, décor, and hospitality sparked our imaginations, and we began daydreaming and planning for it. Our 35 years of marriage, combined with a sprinkling of supernatural guidance, may have prompted the notion of developing a wedding/event venue that was distinct in both style and beauty for our clients. We discovered a 21-acre farm just outside of historic Weatherford, TX, while searching the Fort Worth countryside. Beautiful trees, natural springs, and pasture area are all part of this estate, which has been in the family for 115 years. We began collecting architectural elements such as 300+ year old doors, gables, mirrors, tables, rustic wagons, gates, and benches from Texas and Santa Fe, using the same expertise and attention to detail Steve used in designing beautiful custom homes. These elements will be used in both a Country Chapel and an Event Center, which will be completed in 2018. This is where the journey begins! Construction began when the land was purchased, the move was completed, the designs were drafted, and the road was built. The Brooks at Weatherford, a new community in Weatherford, is taking shape one step at a time. Even as we cherish the opportunity to be near to our children and grandchildren, we are reminded and assured that marriage is worth the effort of remaining together and, more importantly, worth celebrating. Not only do we intend to provide a lovely setting for celebrations, but also a location where people want to hang out and enjoy themselves.   34Events is a multi-purpose venue in the center of historic downtown Plano that can accommodate up to 250 people. When our culinary and photographic services are combined, we can provide a complete turnkey solution for any special event or occasion. The antique hardwood floors and 15-foot brick walls of the venue provide as a stunning background for any theme or event.   The Queen Anne Victorian home that was built in 1899 and is known as the Ball-Eddleman-McFarland House is considered to be the most preserved of its kind in the region. This exquisite Victorian masterpiece of a little over 5,000 square feet was constructed by English architect Howard Messer for Galveston widow Mrs. George Ball (Sarah) and her son Frank in 1899. The home was built high on a hill overlooking the Trinity River. At a time when the typical cost of a dwelling was between $2,000 and $4,000, the construction of the house came to $38,000. The house has had just three different families live in it over its entire existence, and it has seen very few changes since it was first built. There are towers, gables, copper finials, a slate tile roof, and a porch made of red sandstone and marble on the late Victorian facade. The elegant interior has its original wood mantles, cornices, paneling, coffered ceilings, and parquet flooring. The McFarland House was declared as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1979, as well as Fort Worth's second Historic and Cultural Landmark in 1980. In 1979, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, and in 1980, it was certified as such by the state of Texas.

Our tale starts in 1898 when Tilly and William Braxton Barr bought 223 acres of land in Sprinkle, Texas, which contained a post office, churches, a school, and a train station. They then built our historic home for their family to live in. The community remained populated up until the 1930s until being eventually included into the expanding metropolis of Austin. During the century, the Barr family continued to live in the Mansion, but sadly it gradually fell into disrepair. I'd had the desire to restore a historic structure for my entire life, and when I first came across this site in 1981, I felt with all of my heart that it was the appropriate place to do it. When Austin started to learn about and share my love for this hidden jewel, the years of construction and labor that I had invested while raising my own family in the Mansion, transformed into a passionate life in the events sector. I initially prepared all of the food for the visitors myself, but as time went on, professional event staff was employed, and the area gradually grew into the magnificent three buildings and gourmet kitchen where we now host parties. Even though the Mansion has been a steadfast part of Texas history for more than a century, we didn't stop there. We added an 18th-century Artisan Ballroom to the property in 2000, having it brought piece by piece from New York because I knew Austin would enjoy the building's many large glass windows that give visitors the impression that they are outside while inside. When Christopher Columbus first came to America, some of the barn's timbers were still trees, giving the place even more historical significance. The farmhouse, our most recent addition to the property and a contemporary twist on an open-air pavilion, was completed in 2014. It gives visitors even more possibilities to enjoy the expansive grounds and gardens. I am incredibly proud of our history and where we have come from, and I am eager to share my life's work with you.

The RoseMary Barn was then renovated from a dilapidated 1970s pole barn at the property's back to the lovely white venue it is today. The RoseMary Barn takes its name from the proprietor's mother. The RoseMary Barn is a stunning all-white event and wedding location located about 5 miles from Historic Downtown Mckinney and hotels. White shiplap is used to build the inside walls and ceilings. The venue features a large bridal suite with h/m stations, cable tv+mini fridge, a masculine grooms cabin with cable tv/hook ups for a gaming center+mini fridge, a large outdoor ceremony space shaded by mature trees, a large covered porch for cocktail hour, a bar kitchen for the bartenders, a large catering prep kitchen, and a 40x32 covered pavilion that can be used for a wedding reception.   Little Chapel in-the-Woods You are entering a tradition as you go into the Little Chapel in the Woods. The chapel, on the outskirts of Texas Women's University, is a hidden sanctuary that has hosted weddings since September 1939, a few months before Eleanor Roosevelt's dedication. The exquisite internal stain glass windows complement the natural splendor that surrounds the Little Chapel. On saw-pierced and riveted brass lighting, and woodwork completed in beech, hand carved woodwork on the pews, the Little Chapel in-the-Woods' rich symbolism delicately conveys "Woman Ministering to Human Needs." Architect O'Neil Ford designed the Chapel, which is 90 feet long and 24 feet broad. During the Great Depression, it was built as a project of the National Youth Administration and dedicated by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The Little Chapel in the Woods is steeped in history, and every piece in the chapel is imbued with the aesthetic fingerprint of young women artists. The stone walls take on a charming blue tint as the sunshine filters through the stained glass windows, and the exterior is surrounded by magnificent green landscapes. Greenhouse & Gardens TWU's Gardens can help you plan the perfect outdoor celebration. For ceremonies, black garden chairs can be placed up on the greenhouse patio or in a garden area of your choice. Our 5000 square foot ceremony garden, which seats up to 600 guests and was designed by Adam Barbe (of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center), offers breathtaking vistas of groomed acres with big oak trees all around. With stunning views of our polo grounds, our covered veranda accommodates up to 80 guests and seamlessly transitions from interior to outdoor spaces. Nestled amongst sycamore trees and illuminated by a lovely display of ambient outdoor lighting, our cocktail garden is close to our Wishbone Bar.
