The property was purchased from Joy and Jesse McReynolds of the bluegrass duo "Jim & Jesse" — the venue's name is a nod to Jesse, since a fiddle player is traditionally called a "picker" in bluegrass music. Father-daughter owners Don Mercer and Amanda Jackson took over and renovated the property in 2015 after Amanda was married there in 2014, and have since hosted more than 250 weddings on site.
