At SPIN, we come together to socialize and celebrate play. At our core is the drive to connect through ping pong—a game that transcends age, gender and boundaries. We are the original ping pong social club, your offline social network, a place to call home. We welcome diversity and embrace the unconventional. With venues in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, Philadelphia, Seattle and Austin we encourage you to participate. Do it together and never alone. In 2007, best friends Jonathan Bricklin and Franck Raharinosy had a crazy idea: they would practice ping pong 24 hours a day, seven days a week until they were good enough to make the United States Olympic Team. In order to prepare for the Olympics, they began throwing weekly ping pong parties, just like any other future Olympian would. Their parties drew in a diverse group of people, including artists and actors, musicians and bankers, brokers and broadcasters, and (of course) professional ping pong players and everyone in between, among others. Spinning was born out of the fun and vibrant energy generated by the diverse group of people who attended the first event. We gather at SPIN to socialize and to celebrate the joy of playing. Ping pong is at the heart of our desire to connect with one another, and it is a game that transcends age, gender, ethnicity, and all physical boundaries. We are the original ping pong social club, your offline social network, and a place where you can feel at ease and at ease with yourself. We are open to new ideas and are not afraid of the unconventional. We encourage you to participate in our events in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington DC, and Boston, which will be held in a variety of locations. Do it as a group, never by yourself. #UnitedbyPingPong

Haven's Kitchen was founded by Alison Cayne in 2012 with the goal of instilling pride and pleasure in her students through the preparation of seasonal ingredients from scratch. Alison Cayne has been teaching cooking since 2002. At the time of the company's inception, she set out on a mission to educate people about the impact that the food we buy, eat, and prepare has on the environment, society, and our daily lives. As a three-story carriage house in the heart of Manhattan, our residence strikes a balance between the comforting familiarity of a home and the unadorned openness of a Flatiron loft. Consider the variety of events we've hosted here, ranging from lively product launches to formal dinners and custom-designed weddings, to see why we like to think of our events team as its own in-house marketing department. Our carriage house is designed to bring people together while also providing them with the opportunity to express themselves creatively in a comfortable setting.

  • Featured photo from The Maritime Hotel

    The Maritime Hotel

    363 W 16th St, New York, NY 10011, USA

As the National Maritime Union's headquarters, the nautically themed structure was originally designed by New Orleans modernist architect Albert Ledner in 1968 to serve as the union's headquarters. In the late 1940s, Ledner worked as an apprentice under the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, where he developed his own playful style. This fanciful approach to modernism was long dismissed by design purists, but The Maritime is now considered to be part of a wave of modernist architecture that is being viewed in a completely different light than it was previously. It had been open since 2003 but had undergone a transformation to better reflect its enviable location in the heart of Manhattan's fashion, art, food and business districts as well as the city's technology and creative industries. It was the first luxury hotel in the neighborhood, distinguished by its signature porthole windows, white-tiled exterior, and elevated outdoor terraces overlooking Ninth Avenue. As the modern, cool heart of Manhattan's Meatpacking District/West Chelsea neighborhood, the Maritime Hotel has maintained its position.

Le Fanfare is a lovely and welcoming original Italian restaurant and event venue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. It serves traditional Italian cuisine. Le Fanfare, tucked away at the end of Manhattan Avenue and nestled amid the traditional Polish bakeries and butchers, serves modest Italian cuisine accompanied by live jazz music. The menu is complemented with an all-Italian wine list as well as classic drinks. Greenpoint was chosen as the location for their next project because the energy there was similar to that of Nolita fifteen years ago, according to the owners, jazz musician Luca Fadda, his wife Giorgia, and their long-time friend Nicola Paganelli (whose family owns the Meloni winery in their native Sardinia, Italy). Chef Adam Ross oversees the kitchen, which serves only the highest-quality foods that are presented in a straightforward and friendly manner. All of the pastas and breads are prepared right here in the restaurant. Seasonal Italian cuisine is created using regional products and ingredients that have been meticulously selected. It is the perfect setting for any type of event, including a small wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, wedding shower, baby shower, and anniversary party. We have established ourselves as a leading Brooklyn wedding venue for couples wishing to host approximately 60 persons seated. Most of our menus are served family-style, and we have a variety of selections to choose from to suit your preferences. We have created an environment that is suitable for any form of celebration! 632 On Hudson

632 Hudson St, New York, NY 10014, USA

632 On Hudson is a haven away from the frantic energy of a typical New York events venue in the west village. Not so much a venue in the traditional sense as a private residence that can be made accessible to others for their own extremely special occasions. Film and picture shoots, weddings, rehearsal dinners, wine and culinary events, anniversaries, product launches, corporate receptions, editor events, holiday parties, and other personal festivities of all kinds are all possible at this location. This private hidden gem - a townhouse with 9,000 square feet of indoor space and a 1,500 square foot decked rooftop garden - is located on a quiet stretch of Hudson Street where the Far West Village and the Meat Packing District cross. It is a fantastic venue to organize a celebration because it specializes in smaller, more intimate events that are tailored to the client's specific demands and create the unique mood desired for each event.

The Strand's Rare Book Room is a perfect venue for weddings, celebrations, and private events. Spend your special evening surrounded by rare and antique books curated by Strand's resident experts. The Strand was established in 1927 on Fourth Avenue, in the heart of what was then known as "Book Row." Book Row was a six-block stretch of land that housed forty-eight independent bookstores. Ben Bass, the father, was only twenty-five years old when he started his modest used bookstore in his hometown of St. Louis. Entrepreneur at heart and voracious reader by nature, this erudite gentleman began with $300 dollars of his own money and another $300 dollars in borrowed funds from a friend. Ben wished to create a space where books would be cherished and book lovers could congregate in a welcoming environment. After the London street where avant-garde writers such as Thackeray, Dickens, and Mill once congregated as well as interesting book publishers, he named his bookstore after the same street. The Strand quickly established itself as a Greenwich Village institution, where writers gathered to converse, sell their books, and hunt for a hidden treasure to purchase and keep for themselves. Today, the Strand is the only remaining structure from Book Row's illustrious past. Ben's son, Fred, was already learning the ropes of the family business at the age of thirteen. He, too, was a book enthusiast who quickly entered the book trade. After serving his country in the Armed Forces, Fred returned home to New York, where he continued to work alongside his father in the family business. By 1957, Fred had relocated the store to its current location at 12th Street and Broadway, which is just around the corner. Eventually, Fred found himself spending the majority of his time at the purchasing desk, cultivating relationships with regulars and on the lookout for the next great find... In the following generation, Fred's daughter, Nancy, joined her father in the family business. When she finished college and spent a brief period in Louisiana, she returned to her hometown and joined the Strand team at the age of twenty-five. Today, she manages the store and feels privileged to be able to carry on her family's 90-year tradition. It's still up in the air whether one, two, or all three of Nancy's children will be the next in line to join the Strand organization.
