Meredith College offers sixteen rentable venues across a 225-acre campus in Raleigh, from an intimate parlor for forty guests to a lakeside amphitheater seating 2,500. Jones Chapel is the heart of the campus for ceremonies, with soaring traditional architecture, stained glass, a functioning pipe organ and seating for 440, and an adjoining garden gazebo for photographs. Receptions and dinners are held in Belk Banquet Hall West, the Wainwright Suites and the Johnson Hall Rotunda, where a working fine art gallery surrounds the room. Outdoors, the McIver Amphitheater looks out over a lake and fountain, the Lake Gazebo and Small Island offers a waterfront setting for intimate ceremonies, and courtyards and gardens across campus suit gatherings of every size. For performances and presentations, Jones Auditorium seats 650 with a professional stage and full technical support, and Carswell Recital Hall offers 185 acoustically designed seats. Payne Meadows, located approximately 12 miles west of Murphy, NC, is your rustic barn wedding and event venue serving the western North Carolina communities of Murphy, Andrews, Hayesville and Robbinsville, NC as well as Blue Ridge, Blairsville and Hiawasse, GA to Cleveland, Copperhill and Tellico Plains, TN. Our close proximity to these towns make us a great fit to host your wedding day, elopment, destination wedding, birthday celebration, family reunion, anniversary, or any celebration hoping to be cherished forever. The property consists of 38 acres of rolling pastures split in half by a cool running stream that twist and turns throughout the property. The property's elevated portions showcases beautiful mountainous views of western North Carolina for miles while overlooking the entire property. The property is owned by Ronnie & Linda Payne and the venue is currently operated by Ms. Linda and son, Robert Payne. The property has been in the family for over six generations dating back to the middle 1800's. Our earliest known Payne heir first settled in the Hothouse community in 1853 on land given to Nehemiah Payne via North Carolina state land grants. Ronnie's parents, Elva & Harold Payne, built the barn located on the property in the early 1950's and worked the land raising cattle and horses. The barn was a symbol of pride and hard work to the elder Harold Payne. Elva & Harold raised four children on the farm that sustained the family for many years before logging timber became the preferred job of choice. Following the passing of Ms. Elva, the farm place was left to Ronnie who then decided to save and restore the beloved barn that was so vital in its time to the property. As caretakers of the property, Ronnie & Linda began to fall in love again so to speak with the property and its beauty.
