Set across 240 scenic acres along the Quinebaug River in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, Old Sturbridge Village is the largest outdoor history museum in the Northeast. The Village recreates a rural New England community from the early 1800s, with more than 40 historic buildings — including homes, farms, mills, shops, and meetinghouses — connected by dirt roads and pathways that provide a wholly immersive backdrop for gatherings. Founded in 1946, the museum grew from industrialist Albert B. Wells's collection of 19th-century antiques and tools. Costumed interpreters demonstrate period crafts and trades throughout the grounds, giving events here a sense of living history unavailable at most venues. The Village offers the 300-seat Brewer Theater for performances, lectures, and multimedia presentations, and a Museum Education Center for hands-on programming. On-site dining is available at the Bullard Tavern, a 19th-century-style gathering space, and the Ox & Yoke Café. Historic accommodations are available nearby at the Oliver Wight House, a ten-room property built in 1789 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

For private events, the Great Hall serves as the primary reception space, accommodating up to 150 guests seated or 300 for a standing reception. Wedding bookings are structured as six-hour full museum rentals that take place outside regular operating hours, giving groups exclusive access to the galleries, courtyard, and all connected spaces. The Multicultural Arts Complex is a visual and performing arts center ideally located near I93, the MBTA Lechmere Green Line Station, the Kendall Square Red Line Station, and the Galleria Mall in East Cambridge. The structure, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was conceived in 1814 by renowned architect Charles Bulfinch, erected in 1889, and refurbished in 1985 as a performing arts center by architect Graham Gund. Our theater can accommodate 150 people for a seated meal with room for a small dance floor area, or 200 people for a standing reception, depending on your needs and general set-up. Our Gallery has seating for 40-50 people. Only our venue is included in our rental packages. Please visit Additional Rental Items for chair and table rentals. We do not provide linens, dishware, cocktail tables, decorations, or flowers, thus these items must be arranged through an outside vendor. We promote diversity through the events we provide in the visual and performing arts. We make our space available to artists and groups who might not otherwise have access to a professionally equipped and accessible facility or the cultural mainstream because we are a multi-use art center. "Very affordable, super elegant without being over the top, beautiful building and grounds, really friendly and accommodating staff...we couldn't have been happier with the place we picked for our big day, it was perfect!" - C.K.
