  Union Springs is an East Texas wedding and event location. It is situated on 33 acres of land surrounded by magnificent woodlands. It gives the appearance of a rustic western horse barn, yet it also features modern facilities for brides. The barn is 5000 square feet and can comfortably seat 250 people. There are two covered porches with seating for another 65 people. A bride's dressing room with her own restroom and vanity space is available in the barn. There is also a separate dressing room for the groom. The unusual Dutch doors on the front of the barn provide a separate entrance for each dressing room. A catering kitchen is located adjacent to the buffet area. Your caterer can utilize the commercial refrigerator, warming cabinet, ice machine, and prep tables in the kitchen.   As a result of our desire to be closer to our children and grandkids, we closed the doors of our long-standing San Antonio-based business, Steve Heflin Architect/Builder (www.steveheflinhomes.com), and relocated to the Ft Worth region in 2011. The idea of a commercial venture that would bring together our talents in design, construction, décor, and hospitality sparked our imaginations, and we began daydreaming and planning for it. Our 35 years of marriage, combined with a sprinkling of supernatural guidance, may have prompted the notion of developing a wedding/event venue that was distinct in both style and beauty for our clients. We discovered a 21-acre farm just outside of historic Weatherford, TX, while searching the Fort Worth countryside. Beautiful trees, natural springs, and pasture area are all part of this estate, which has been in the family for 115 years. We began collecting architectural elements such as 300+ year old doors, gables, mirrors, tables, rustic wagons, gates, and benches from Texas and Santa Fe, using the same expertise and attention to detail Steve used in designing beautiful custom homes. These elements will be used in both a Country Chapel and an Event Center, which will be completed in 2018. This is where the journey begins! Construction began when the land was purchased, the move was completed, the designs were drafted, and the road was built. The Brooks at Weatherford, a new community in Weatherford, is taking shape one step at a time. Even as we cherish the opportunity to be near to our children and grandchildren, we are reminded and assured that marriage is worth the effort of remaining together and, more importantly, worth celebrating.   Set on a private road in the Texas Hill Country north of San Antonio, Lost Mission is a wedding and special-event venue built around an authentic mission-style chapel and reception hall, surrounded by oak trees off Highway 46 near Spring Branch. The property was built beginning in 2009 by contractor Lon Danley, who drew on his New Mexico upbringing to construct the buildings from more than 6,500 stacked straw bales finished in white stucco, in the style of Old World Spanish architecture. Handcrafted details from Lost Mission's on-site workshop appear throughout the property, including hand-carved white oak and cypress doors, wrought-iron sconces and chandeliers, 1890s pews shipped in from a Pennsylvania church, and a mission bell reclaimed from a Kerrville farm. The climate-controlled Mission Style Chapel seats up to 240 guests beneath stained-glass windows, while the Modern Reception Hall accommodates up to 350 guests and features a 40-foot firewall, wood trusses, a rock fireplace, and a built-in bar. A 7,000-square-foot patio with cafe lighting and a stream-side path connects the two spaces.
