  Horticultural expert Tom Tinguely lived in his country home for 25 years, manicuring his gardens and nurturing carefully chosen plants and flowers with love. In 2009 he moved downtown to be closer to his garden center, a South Congress landmark called The Great Outdoors. He stayed at the country home on the weekends, often hosting private parties for his friends and family. When Tom’s niece was engaged that same year, she searched for the perfect outdoor venue in Austin, and Tom graciously offered his magnificent gardens to host her wedding. Tom’s partner Danny Hatt, who coordinated events in Charleston, South Carolina moved to Austin in 2009 and he was eager to jump on board to take on the planning aspects of the wedding. His eye for style added the touches that transformed a small garden party into an elegant event and his experience in event coordination made the wedding a successful and memorable occasion. This garden wedding inspired Tom and Danny to open The Hummingbird House together and our first couple, Nadine and Andy, became husband and wife on April 10th, 2009! Since then, The Hummingbird House has hosted hundreds of events including weddings, charity events, anniversary parties, birthday celebrations, vow renewals, elopement galas, holiday gatherings, corporate events, graduation parties, and photo shoots!

  Rock Lake Ranch is a working ranch owned and operated by the Geffert family, which has been in the family for several generations. They are sixth generation Texans who take tremendous pleasure in their ancestors and the history of their home state. This gorgeous property, which was named after Rock Lake Creek, was formerly a camping area for Native Americans who were lured to the spring-fed creek that cut through the exposed sandstone cliffs. The Gefferts' great-grandparents came in the Piedmont area in the mid-1850s, when they were born. During the 1920s, their grandparents, Annie Lee and Johnny Churchwell, were still operating a self-sufficient farmhouse on the acreage they inherited. The Writer's Cottage, a shotgun-style residence built in the early 1900s in Houston's Fourth Ward, was formerly a popular hangout for writers. When it was transported to the ranch in 2005, it had been authentically restored by volunteers and professionals from Historic Houston. The Old Gibbons Creek bridge, a steel-truss bridge built in the early twentieth century and affectionately known as the "Shanghai Bridge" by locals, originally stood a few miles away. It had been abandoned since the 1980s, but it was relocated and rebuilt in 2009, and it now serves as a picturesque gateway to the Waterfront Pavilion and other outdoor spaces at Rock Lake Ranch. There are still remnants of their grandparents' first home on Rock Lake Ranch, including the Allen House and wooden barn area, as well as the old well house and cistern where their grandparents' original farmhouse previously stood. The magnificent castle, which stands five floors tall with balconies on each story, opened in 2018 and overlooks the picturesque Lake Whitney. Our 3,000 square foot ballroom is the ideal setting for any occasion. For any outside event, the castle grounds have various gazebos, a big front lawn, a moat and draw bridge, a private pool, and much more. Parsons Castle, perched on a bluff above Lake Whitney and its miles of sandy beach, rich vegetation, and beautiful waters, combines the opulence of a stately castle with all the modern conveniences you'd expect from a Texas wedding location. Parsons Castle offers a variety of possibilities for your wedding celebration. In our spectacular ballroom, which features floor to ceiling windows, an amazing rock fireplace, gorgeous tile flooring, and glittering chandeliers, you may host up to 250 guests. Allow enough space for a dance floor or seat your guests on our 200 Chiavari padded seats to properly appreciate their surroundings. If your fantasy wedding takes place outside, take advantage of our rooftop patio (seats up to 150) with spectacular views of lovely Lake Whitney, or the castle's verdant gardens and courtyard, which can host up to 1,000 people. For outdoor events, up to 150 white, padded foldable chairs are available, ensuring that your guests are comfortable and that your ceremony is timeless.
