Nestled just steps from the Magnificent Mile, and across the street from the city’s oldest public park, Washington Square Park, the Newberry Library offers indoor event spaces with various capacities for intimate presentations, performances, formal ceremonies, fundraisers, galas, high-end corporate entertaining, all-day conferences, workshops and trainings, dramatic cocktail receptions, elegant dinner celebrations, and multimedia presentations. Rooms may be combined for greater capacity and for varying program components. The fully restored Lobby is a showstopper. Our largest event space, Ruggles Hall, can accommodate up to 160 guests in a warm and cozy library atmosphere created by its mahogany paneled walls and broad windows overlooking Washington Square Park. Canvas at Yanni Design Studio is an extension of our spectacular showroom that presents our clients with endless possibilities. Canvas features a beautiful backdrop for events, thanks to a stunning new terrace, original brick walls, a wall of windows, and 21-foot ceilings with an array of Canvas signature chandeliers. Choose between an indoor and outdoor celebration: Canvas features magnificent glass doors that open out to a garden, and let in an abundance of natural light. Bar Parisette is an award-winning restaurant and wine bar on a bustling stretch of Logan Square. We love hosting events, including weddings, in our spacious dining room and bar. Our dining room is large enough to accommodate groups of up to 100 in a semi-private capacity, while the two spaces combined can host up to 165 guests. The space is perfectly suited for events that include multiple elements, such as a cocktail hour followed by a seated dinner, and can be set up to include a wedding ceremony, dance floor, or performance. Our packages include bespoke menus from our culinary and bar teams, as well as service staff, furniture, plates, silverware, glasses, and more. The space features exposed brick, floor to ceiling windows, hardwood floors, vintage lighting, and custom tile. Events include use of our state-of-the-art sound system and wireless microphone.
