Ari brings his catering and culinary experience to The Elan, bringing a fresh and innovative perspective to the table. When he was a student at the Berklee School of Music, he began working in the food and events sector, and eventually went on to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America, the nation's premier culinary school. In the years after graduating from culinary school, he has honed his abilities by working under some of the world's most celebrated chefs, including Steven Starr (Buddakhan) and Rocco D'Spirito (Union Pacific). Ari's most recent position was as General Manager of Sterling Affair, a high-end New York City off-premise catering firm that counts among its clientele members of the Rockefeller family as well as Columbia and Fordham Universities. There, he honed his management and event planning abilities even further, bringing his distinct flair and exceptional service to each and every event he planned and managed while also gaining valuable experience. From event conception to execution, he supplied customers with his excellent attention to detail and committed personal service, ensuring that every element, from the cuisine to the décor and personnel, was completed to the highest standard. Our stunning formal dining and entertainment room, which was built by the King Family in 1810, is part of the final enlargement that was added to the home to create the structure that is now known as King Manor. There are genuine Federal Period design components in the space, which were meant to produce a warm, bright environment in an era before electric lights, as well as great natural acoustics for music performance. Having worked at places such as the Glen Oaks Country Club, City Hall, La Grenouille, and Gascogne Bistro, I decided to branch out and open my own restaurant on Staten Island in 2007. Over the course of seven years, the Alor Cafe has evolved into a fine dining and music venue. Today, I am the proud father of three children, and I live in Brooklyn with my wife. As a business owner, I take pleasure in giving back to my community. I also appreciate that Staten Island's accessibility allows for affordable ownership while still remaining connected to the city's energy. I recently ended my relationship with my long-term partner, but I'm ready to move on to the next phase. My current project is the "Better Burger" Project for the Chefs of America Foundation, on which I am currently working as a member. I've taken on this responsibility with the goal of demonstrating to the Staten Island community that eating healthy, sustainable foods is a wise choice and that this is the direction in which the restaurant market is moving.
