Albi is the chef/owner Michael Rafidi's first solo restaurant venture in New York City. Esquire and Robb Report Magazines named Chef Rafidi as the Best New Restaurant in 2020, drawing inspiration from his family's Palestinian roots and bringing to the table an experience that melds the ancient tradition of the region's coal-fired cuisine with local, seasonal ingredients and a refined culinary acumen. He assisted the culinary management of the group's multinational properties and was instrumental in the opening of eight of those concepts in his capacity as a consultant. Rafidi grew up in Maryland and has worked at a number of well-regarded East Coast establishments, including the Blue Duck Tavern in Washington, D.C., and Talula's Garden in Philadelphia. The only national museum dedicated to the recording of African American life, history, and culture is the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Following decades of initiatives to promote and showcase the contributions of African Americans, it was established by an Act of Congress in 2003. Almost 40,000 objects have been acquired by the Museum thus far, and almost 100,000 people have joined as members. The Museum became the 19th museum of the Smithsonian Institution and welcome visitors on September 24, 2016. Housed in a former Arlington County school building, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington (MoCA Arlington) has occupied its location since 1976. The building was constructed in 1910 to a design by architect Charles M. Robinson and served as a school before being adapted for cultural use; it is designated both an Arlington County Landmark and a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. A 2005 renovation restored the building's original Louis Comfort Tiffany Studio stained-glass windows, which remain a signature feature of the space today.
