Historic Blenheim is a Civil War-era estate in the City of Fairfax, Virginia, operated by the City as an event venue and interpretive center. The centerpiece is a Greek-Revival/Georgian brick house built around 1859 for the Willcoxon family, where Federal soldiers left graffiti on the interior walls during the winter of 1862-63 — a detail that has made the property a stop on both the Virginia Civil War Trails and the Northern Virginia Graffiti Trail. The adjoining Civil War Interpretive Center houses a gallery with a full-sized replica of the house's attic and glass walls that look out over the historic grounds. Set on 12 secluded acres, the property combines that historic backdrop with modern event amenities, making it suited to weddings, anniversary parties, bar and bat mitzvahs, and meetings alike — even a routine meeting takes on a different character in the space. The Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center sits in the heart of the City of Fairfax, adjacent to Van Dyck Park and within walking distance of Old Town Fairfax. Operated by the City of Fairfax, the community center offers three flexible rental spaces suited to everything from an intimate meeting to a wedding reception. The Performance Space is the center's largest room, with a wood dance floor and room for up to 333 seated guests or 500 for a standing reception when rented in full; it can also be rented as a half-space accommodating 167 seated or 250 standing. The Mason Family Rehearsal Space holds up to 70 guests, and the Greenfield Family Art Room accommodates up to 60, giving planners smaller options for rehearsal dinners, meetings, and private parties alongside the center's larger events. Rentals include tables and chairs, and the venue is suited to weddings, large events, meetings, and artistic performances, with rental hours extending into the evening on weekends.

Old Town Hall is a stately Colonial Revival building at the heart of the nationally recognized City of Fairfax Historic District. Built in 1900 by Joseph E. Willard — later lieutenant governor of Virginia and U.S. ambassador to Spain — the hall was presented to the Town of Fairfax in 1902 and quickly became the center of Fairfax social life. Its neo-classical design combines Tuscan order columns with Federal-style details, including a fanlight window over the front doors and round-headed gabled dormers. The venue offers two rentable levels: a Main Floor accommodating up to 150 guests and an Upper Level for up to 120, suited to weddings, private parties, and meetings. Adjacent to the hall, the Kitty Pozer Garden offers a shaded, perennial-filled setting for photos, while the neighboring Old Town Square — with its splash pad, pergola, and patio furniture — can be reserved in conjunction with the hall for ceremonies and cocktail hours.

You and your guests will be formally welcomed by the fieldstone front of the mansion, which is located at the top of a circular driveway. The building has a large, well-lit parking area in the back. Since there are no stairs to navigate, everyone may easily access the side entrance. As visitors arrive, they are shielded from adverse weather by the covered entrance path. Our inviting lounge, complete with a fireplace and built-in bar, is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and show off photos. Groups can eat and dance together in the main ballroom, which can accommodate up to 200 people with partial seating and 160 people fully seated. The Rock Creek Mansion ballroom, with its chandeliers, sconces, and black-and-white tiled floor, is perfect for both formal occasions and informal gatherings. Newton White Mansion is a Neo-Georgian estate built in 1939 by architect William Lawrence Bottomley for Captain Newton H. White of the U.S. Navy. Set in Mitchellville, Maryland, adjacent to the 586-acre Enterprise Golf Course, the mansion combines historic architecture with a glass-enclosed contemporary atrium — a pairing that makes it well suited for both formal and celebratory events. The mansion accommodates up to 240 guests seated and 300 standing across six large rooms, two side porches, and the glass atrium, which overlooks the 13th hole of the golf course. A large brick patio with a central fountain, surrounded by lush gardens and woodlands, hosts outdoor gatherings of up to 200 guests. The History of Rockwood Manor Retreats and Events After leaving Washington, D.C., Carolyn Gangwer Caughey (pronounced "Coy") traveled west along the Old Conduit Road (now MacArthur Boulevard) to her newly purchased estate near Great Falls. Mountains of tall cedars, poplars, and oaks cover rock-studded hillsides that gently slope down to a stream valley. A name for Mrs. Caughey's country estate was suggested to her by the natural elements almost immediately: Rockwood. Carolyn was a well-to-do socialite whose ancestors traced their roots back to the American Revolution. She was also a successful businesswoman who had a passion for architecture and a keen eye for profit in the real estate market. According to Who's Who in the Nation's Capital, she is "active in civic betterment, particularly in relation to better-constructed and better-planned homes," among other things. It also mentions that she was responsible for designing one of the largest apartment buildings in the nation's capital at the time. As a result, many of her close friends were not surprised when she revealed that she had designed and personally supervised the construction of her new home. Visiting auctions and antique dealers in the area on a regular basis assisted her in the furnishing of her country estate. Darnall's Chance Historic Site & Museum is an 18th-century Georgian mansion completed in 1742, set on the grounds of Prince George's County Parks in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The property interprets colonial life and the history of the enslaved people who sought and fought for their freedom, and it is recognized on both the National Underground Network to Freedom Trail and the War of 1812 Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail. For private events, the venue offers a lighted patio tent available from May through October. The 30-by-60-foot tent accommodates up to 125 guests and is large enough to hold a dance floor, buffet tables, bar, and live music. Sidewalls are available in the event of inclement weather.
