This tropical oasis features colorful butterfly gardens that were claimed to have been planted by one of South Florida’s famous founding fathers, David Fairchild who was an honorary pallbearer at Colonel Henry’s funeral. Original oak flooring, cedar-lined closets, and hand-carried heart pine beams remain intact throughout, giving the mansion a character that reflects its long history. The property was opened as a wedding and event venue after the current owners recognized a shortage of suitable facilities in the area. The facility accommodates up to 200 guests and includes a uniquely designed outdoor ceremony pavilion with a gazebo, paved brick aisles, and a patio, alongside an air-conditioned reception hall pre-decorated with white lights and tulle. Club Continental is a historic waterfront estate on the banks of the St. Johns River in Orange Park, Florida. The property traces its roots to the 1880s, when B.J. Johnson, founder of the Palmolive Soap Company, first sought refuge from Wisconsin winters here. The current Mediterranean-style mansion was built beginning in 1922, and in 1966 it was transformed into the private Club Continental — a members' club that has hosted events ever since. The grounds reflect the estate's century of history: 300-year-old Live Oaks draped in Spanish moss, formal gardens with original 1920s fountains and tiles, three swimming pools, and a sweeping riverfront lawn with a stone balustrade overlooking the water. Ceremonies take place beneath the ancient oaks with the St. Johns River as a backdrop, while cocktail hours spill onto the outdoor patio overlooking the gardens, pools, and cabana. The Manor House at Richardson Historic Park & Nature Preserve 1937 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors, FL 33305 Rental hours: 8 a.m. – 12 a.m. Holds: 75 people inside the house (option to use of courtyards allows for higher attendance) Features: The Manor House has a kitchen area with refrigerator, ice machine, microwave and warming oven. A variety of tables and chairs are available. Use of surrounding courtyards, gazebo and the parking lot are also reserved for your guests.
