The original Houston Heights Fire Station No. 14 is located at Yale and 12th Street, approximately 4 miles north of downtown Houston, and is the last remaining municipal facility from the era when the Heights was a separate municipality. Houston's first public meeting hall, City Hall, fire station, and jail were all constructed in 1914 at a time when horse-drawn fire wagons were still the primary means of transportation. When it became Station Number 14 in 1918, it would remain that way until 1987, when it was permanently decommissioned for the last time. The Houston Heights Association voted in the early millennium to save the building and restore it to its former splendor, and they were successful. After repairing the building and installing vintage carriage-style doors in homage to the horse-drawn carriages of the early twentieth century, when the corral was located directly behind the fire station, The H.H.A. was able to reopen the corral. After being purchased by the Houston Height Association in 1979, the property has since grown to become one of the most popular outdoor wedding venues in the city of Houston. Chef Jacques Fox was born in the North African city of "Sidi-Bel-Abbes" and raised in France by his Polish grandparents. Even before graduating from high school, Chef Jacques Fox demonstrated an early aptitude for cooking. Following high school, Chef Jacques enrolled in a two-year program at the College D'Enseignement Techniques in Tulle, France, to further his culinary education. When Chef Jacques graduated from his training program in 1975, he relocated to Paris, where he accepted his first chef position at Maison Prunier, a world-renowned seafood restaurant. In 1976, he joined Elitair Maxims, where he worked for four years before being promoted to executive chef. After leaving Paris in 1983, Chef Jacques went to work for Club Mediterrainnee (Club Med), where he had the opportunity to further develop his culinary skills and understanding of global cuisine at luxury resorts around the world, including those in Kamarina, Sicily; Noumea, New Caledonia; Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Farakulafushi, Maldives; Kos, Greece; Eilat, Israel; Cooper Mountain, United States; and Les Menuires et (Click on the "read more" link above to learn more.) The "Medieval Room I" can accommodate up to 12 people, while the "Medieval Room II" can accommodate up to 10 people. When the "Medieval Rooms" are combined, they can accommodate a total of 24 people. Appearing just before the Art Deco era it was, in many ways, a response to the Industrial Revolution. Art Nouveau artists were among the first to create "art for art's sake" and its influence was found in paintings, architecture, glass, textiles, furniture, silver, china, jewelry, and others. Art Nouveau designers believed that all arts should work in harmony to create a "total work of art". After World War I, the Art Deco style took over and Art Nouveau was soon forgotten. Meadows Place Community Center & Pool sits at the corner of Dorrance and Amblewood in Meadows Place, Texas, operated by the city's Parks & Recreation Department. Recently renovated, the Community Center is available for private rental and accommodates up to 165 guests for parties, meetings, and family gatherings, with sixteen 6-foot tables, 65 chairs, a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, and access to a garden area and patio included with every booking. Facility cleaning is included after each event. Beyond the Community Center building, the property includes a swimming pool available for private rental in the evening or during public swim hours, with lifeguards on duty, and the adjacent Discovery & Nature Center offers a back patio and outdoor play yard for birthday parties, with animal encounters featuring a tortoise, goats, and other resident animals. Pavilions, a BBQ pit, and kayaks are also available to reserve throughout the city's parks for smaller gatherings.

(That's correct, inquire about this location with your grandparents to see if they admit to visiting it.)
