Vincent and his wife began serving dinners at their country cottage in Northern Marion County — naming the restaurant after the hollyhocks that bloomed on the grounds. What started as an intimate 30-seat operation has grown steadily through multiple generations of ownership into a 150-seat landmark that remains one of a very few family-style restaurants still in operation in the United States. The restaurant is known for its classic Indiana fried chicken and home-style cuisine, served in the tradition of the original recipes and techniques that have defined it for nearly a century. Guests travel from all 50 states and internationally to dine here, drawn by the county-style cooking and the warmth of the setting. Private dining is available for groups of 20 or more, with flexible menu options for seated celebrations, corporate lunches, and family gatherings.
