At the foot of Catoctin Mountain and conveniently located along Rt 15, Springfield Manor is an unmistakably prominent historic mansion that should not be missed. The Manor, which was built in 1774, can accommodate huge formal events as well as small intimate parties, and it also has eight luxurious apartments for overnight guests. The rebuilt bank barn serves as the tasting room for the Winery, Distillery, and Brewery, as well as a gathering spot for special events. Springfield Manor is a 130-acre estate that lies atop its own limestone aquifer, which generates the trademark Limestone Spring Water after which the estate was called. Grapes, lavender, corn, and hay are among the crops now being produced. Springfield is home to a thriving apiary with 35 hives in operation. On the farm, you can see a diverse range of wildlife including hawks and falcons, white-tailed deer (including mule deer), groundhogs, turkey, and even a black bear.
