Built in 1822, the Aldrich House is a National Historic Landmark located on the beautiful and historic East Side of Providence. The house was presented to the Rhode Island Historical Society in 1974 by the heirs of Winthrop W. Aldrich, a former Ambassador to Great Britain, and it also serves as the Rhode Island Historical Society headquarters, hosting RIHS special events and programs by appointment. Robert S. Burroughs hired noted Rhode Island architect John Holden Greene to build the house in 1821; it was completed in 1822, the same year the Rhode Island Historical Society was founded. The Aldrich family later shaped national history from this address: Nelson W. Aldrich rose to the U.S. Senate in 1881 and helped lay the groundwork for the Federal Reserve, his daughter Abby married John D. Rockefeller Jr., and their son, Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, was named after him. During World War II, another daughter, Lucy Aldrich, sheltered Scottish evacuee children at the house.

The Roger Williams Park Botanical Center is a greenhouse event venue set within Roger Williams Park, 427 acres of historic parkland in the Elmwood section of Providence, Rhode Island, just minutes from downtown. Lush gardens, a Koi Pond, and 45-foot-tall palms give the space its character, creating a garden backdrop for weddings, private events, and fundraisers. Rentals run on a five-hour basis and include the Conservatory and Mediterranean Room, which accommodates up to 150 guests theater-style and 80 for a seated reception, dinner, or dance in the Mediterranean Room. The venue also offers use of the Lakeside Pavilion, available May through October, which holds up to 300 guests theater-style and 150 for a seated reception, dinner, or dance. Caterers are given access starting at 4pm with an hour set aside for post-event breakdown, and professional photography is permitted throughout the gardens with a permit, which can be built into a wedding package.

Weddings at Blithewold take place in the beautiful North Garden, which is close to the Mansion. Following the ceremony, cocktails are served on the terraces and two covered porches of the magnificent turn-of-the-century Mansion, which overlooks the Great Lawn and its sweeping sunset views of Narragansett Bay. Guests can roam through the gardens and explore the property throughout the cocktail party and reception, exactly as they have for the previous century at Blithewold. Your guests will be escorted to our white 40' x 100' Century Wedding Tent and newly constructed wedding pavilion for dinner and dancing. The tent is near to our Linden Grove and has a great view of the Great Lawn. The freshly built wedding pavilion has handicapped-accessible facilities and a gorgeous, stunning bridal suite.
